Patient Advice

• Take the Prescription Request Form to your GP*.

• When a prescription has been issued, take it to a pharmacy in the usual way. The pharmacy will order in your particular products. It may take up to two weeks for them to arrive. Please check before leaving the pharmacy that you have been given the correct colour(s).

• Repeat prescriptions can be obtained from your GP. If you are buying the products, consult our website for a list of suppliers.

• Winter and summer skin tones may be diff erent and require another skin match. For further advice or to make a second appointment, contact Changing Faces.

* Please note that Changing Faces cannot guarantee that your GP will give you a prescription.

Items you may need

Skin must be clean, oil-free and dry. If you need to use a moisturiser, barrier cream or a medical preparation, apply it first and leave for 30 minutes before applying the camouflage products.

In order to apply and remove the skin camouflage products and powders you will need the following items:

Applying the cream First, take a small amount of cream using a spatula and soften it on the back of your hand.

Apply the cream in thin layers over the affected area using the method you have been shown during your consultation, either by finger, brush or sponge.

Applying the powder Use cotton wool pads to apply a generous layer of powder over the cream.

Leave for five to ten minutes.

Remove surplus powder with a powder brush.

If necessary, take a damp cotton wool pad and pat gently over the area to remove powder residue.

Removing the camouflage products

Use cleansing cream to soften the camouflage products. Wipe off with cotton wool pads, cotton wool, or tissues. Tone and moisturise if required.

Changing Faces are not medical specialists and we advise that you speak to your GP about any condition that may affect

your health. Ingredients for the products you have been recommended can be found on the Changing Faces website at

changingfaces.org.uk/skincam. Please check this, especially if you have any allergies. If you have any adverse reactions to

the products, please contact your GP as soon as possible. Changing Faces cannot accept any responsibility for any side

effects caused by use of these products.

Helpful hints

• Your Skin Camouflage Practitioner may recommend certain sunscreens for use with camouflage products. If you use a non-recommended sunscreen, test this with your camouflage cream to ensure the colour is not changed by the sunscreen.

• You can wear more liquid foundations over your camouflage using a lighter finger touch, foundation brush or cosmetic sponge.

• When properly applied and set, camouflage products will last on the face for up to 12 hours. On the body they will remain for up to four days.

• They are also waterproof, so you can swim and shower. When drying, gently pat but avoid rubbing the area.

• Where clothing is tight or rubs the skin, the camouflage products may mark fabrics.
