Objectives

• I want to study how students in China use social media applications.

• I want to know what are they discussing in those social media applications

• I want to know how much time do they spend on social media.

• I want to know whether they face restrictions when using social media.

Problem Statement

• In 2011, Arab Spring erupted, due (as some people say it) to the wide usage of social media.

• However in China, the government and authorities have severe restrictions on social media.

• The Chinese version however is allowed. Weibo is the substitute of Facebook/ Twitter; but it is heavily controlled and censored. The question is do all these restrictions affect the usage of social media especially in discussing ‘sensitive’ issues in China.
