After a long-fulfilled life, she passed away at the age of 90 surrounded by loved ones. Visitation began at 9:00am, Wednesday, March 6th at the Hall’s Celebra- tion Center located at 9348 Scenic Highway in Baton Rouge. Charles Thomas Jr. Charles Thomas Jr. passed away Wednesday February 20, 2019 at Our Lady of the Lake. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until religious services at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Ernest Mills officiating. Charles will be remembered as a loving husband, son, grandfather and brother. Jeffery ‘Jeff’ Simon Jeff was a resident of Port Allen, he died on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at age of 62. Visiting at Grant’s Westside Funeral Services on Friday from noon until 4pm, and resumed on Saturday from 8am until service at 10 am at Shiloh Baptist Church, Port Allen. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Simon; five chil- dren; sister, brother; 12 granchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Joseph Edward “Eddie” Whitaker (1945 - 2019) Joseph Edward “Eddie” Whitaker, 73, passed away at his home on February 22, 2019. He was born December 15, 1945 in Hammond, LA. Eddie graduated from Hammond High and was an All-State basketball player. He was married to his loving wife, Judith Cobb Whitaker, for 51 years. He is survived by his adoring daughter, Kathy Whitaker Seiden, her husband, Daniel Seiden and four cherished grandsons, Noah, Ben, Adam and Aaron Seiden; his brother-in-law, William “Billy” Cobb; brother, Will “Trigger” Whitaker; as well as a large extended family. Along with his wife, Eddie owned and operated his own business in Brusly, LA for the last 34 years. He was a major part of his community, and the coffee crew will miss his wit. Eddie loved his wife and family. He never missed a game for any of his beloved grandsons, loved spending time at the Tangipahoa River, and playing golf. The regular meeting of the Town of Brusly was called to order this date, February 11, 2019, at the Brusly Town Hall, at 6:30 p.m. Council Member Richard led the Pledge of Allegiance. A roll call determined the follow-ing officials present:

A motion to approve the minutes of the Town’s regular meeting of January 14, 2019, as written, was made by Council Member Daigle and seconded by Council Mem-ber Bourgeois. Mayor Rhodes opened the floor for pub-lic comment. Hearing no comments, the motion passed with a unanimous vote.

Public Works Committee:Mayor Rhodes read aloud the Public Works Report, as prepared by Public Works Supervisor Shane Sarradet, for the month of January. There were 3.3 inches of rainfall in the month; the Town was approved for $19,400 in LGAP Grant money; “Dead End” signs were placed on

Red Oak, White Oak, Pin Oak and Black Oak streets; decorative street signs are still being erected on South LaBauve and West St. Francis Street; several alarms sounded due to a faulty valve which has been resolved; no “out of compliance” test results were noted at the sewer treatment facility; no incidents were reported in the Maintenance Department; a pump malfunctioned at the S. LaBauve Lift Station; DOTD restriped West St. Francis Street and LA 1 between southbound lane and railroad tracks.

Regular bulk trash will be picked up the week of Feb-ruary 11, 2019. The extra trash pickup will be Friday February 22, 2019.

It was agreed, by consensus of Council Members, to in-clude the back section of Orleans Quarters Drive, Gwin Street and various large potholes around town in the bid package for the 2018/2019 Street Overlay Project.

Finance Committee: Mayor Rhodes noted that the “Budget to Actual Com-parison Report” was included in the meeting packets for Council Members to review.

Council Members agreed with Mayor Rhodes regarding allocating money in the approved Capital Outlay Budget from “Levee Top Lights” line item to the “Security Cam-era” line item.

Planning and Zoning Committee:Mayor Rhodes read aloud a Variance Request from Law-rence Bynum for 820 W. Main St. for Non-Compliance – Sec. 19.31.1 Zoning District R-1 – Minimum Lot Size – to decrease lot size from 9600 square feet to 9216 square feet. Having been unanimously recommended by the Planning & Zoning Commission and having determined that the setbacks will be in compliance with the zoning regulations, a motion to approve was made by Council Member Neisler; seconded by Council Member Richard. Mayor Rhodes opened the floor for public comments. Hearing no comments, the motion passed unanimously.

Governmental Affairs Committee: Council Member Bourgeois presented a Former Land-mark Site application for 332 E. Main Street, the former site of the Eureka Central School, the first public high school in West Baton Rouge, established 1884. Having been recommended by the Landmark & Heritage Com-mission as a Former Landmark Site, a motion to approve was made by Council Member Bourgeois; seconded by Council member Richard. Mayor Rhodes opened the floor for public comments. Hearing no comment, the motion passed unanimously.

Police Department Report: Police Department Report for the month of January was given by Officer Garrett Yetman. There were eleven (11) alarms, seven (7) warrant arrest, two (2) reckless operation, two (2) civil complaints, eight (8) miscel-laneous complaints, four (4) disturbance calls, two (2) drug arrests, forty (40) no insurance tows, ten (10) crash reports, one (1) damage to property, five (5) battery, two (2) unlock calls, four (4) traffic complaints, one (1) harassment call, one (1) trespass, one (1) possession of stolen property, three (3) theft calls, two (2) suspicious persons and two (2) truancy. For the month, there were 108 total complaints, 202 total citations and 293 total vi-olations.

Mayor’s Report: Mayor Rhodes attended the Relay for Life Celebri-ty Waiter Event where Police Chief Jonathan Lefeaux placed 3rd in total contributions to the fundraiser. The Mayor also attended the WBR Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet during which Town Clerk Blaine Raba-lais received the Pride of WBR award.

Remarks of Personal Privilege: Council Member Bourgeois reported that she and Coun-cil Member Neisler conducted a litter and cigarette butt survey, along the levee and in the historical triangle area, as a preliminary step in the Town’s application for Trash Receptacles, through a grant from Keep Louisiana Beau-tiful.

Announcements: Addis Mardi Gras Parade is scheduled for Saturday Feb-ruary 23, 2019 at 11:00 AM.

A motion was made by Council Member Richard to ad-journ; seconded by Council Member Daigle. Hearing no comments, the motion passed with a unanimous vote. The meeting adjourned at 6:56 PM.
