Organizational Behavior (OB) is the systematic study and careful application of knowledge about how people- as individuals and groups act within organizations.

Organizational Behavior (OB): A field study that investigates the impact that individuals, groups and structure have on behavior within organization for the purpose of applying such knowledge toward improving an organization’s effectiveness.

It applies broadly to the people in all types of Organizations

Organizational Behavior provides a useful set of tools at many level of analysis.

1. It helps manager look at the behavior of individuals within an organization

2. It also aids there understanding of the complexities involved interpersonal relations

3. It examine the dynamics of relationships within small groups both formal teams and informal groups

4. When two or more people need to coordinate their efforts , managers become interested in the intergroup relations

5. Organizations also can be viewed and managed as whole systems that have interorganizational relationships
