Thanks to everyone who par-

over-seed process dramatically.
We hired a company to over
seed the Canyons course which uti-
lized a drop-type seeder versus the
conventional rotary-type seeder.
Drop seeders set closer to the
ground and yield a more consistent
and uniformed over-seed. The oth-
er advantages are the ability to lay
seed under windy conditions, which
usually is the case during overseed.
Overall the process completed on
the over-seed for the Canyons was
much less labor and a quicker ap-
plication.
Thank you for your help and
consideration. Both courses look
immaculate from Oasis members
repairing their divots and ball
marks. Our “divot dude” staff
members will also be out on the
course each day to fill-in divots,
ball marks and clean tee boxes up
as well. We look forward to keep-
ing this course in excellent condi-
tion throughout the entire golf sea-
son.
With brand new grass still trying
to strengthen from the over seed,
here are some suggestions to help the
turf along during the maturation
process;
* Always follow cart signs and roped
areas to help manage the cart traffic
more effectively.
* Two carts per foursome to lessen
cart wear & tear.
* Stay on the cart path as long as
possible until approaching golf ball.
Concrete does not get destroyed as
easily as turf does.
* Always be mindful of wet, thin,
and bare areas on the fairways that
are not conducive to cart traffic.
* Never drive up onto a green, col-
lar or tee box, especially on steeply
sloped areas.
* Avoid abrupt stops and sharp
turns that cause skidding
* Please check with the golf shop if
you plan on going out in the middle of
the course, especially in the mornings.
Oasis Men’s Golf Club (OMGC) Our season is getting underway with many players returning. Our first main competition will be our Member-
Member Tournament which will be held November 13th & 14th (Horserace on the 12th). Our elections will be held
on 11/4 during our stag night where we will announce the winners from all the flights of the Member-Member. We
expect there will be 80 members (40-teams) competing in this event. Signups are currently being accepted for this
event with the deadline being October 31st.
We have added a new event this year which will be our Best Ball Classic. We expect at least 64 players to compete
as 32 teams in a 2-day event. 8 flights of four teams will be whittled down to the top team in each of the 8 flights
for a playoff to determine a champion. This new event will be held December 11th-12th.
I think I can speak for most of our members, and we have only played the Canyons since overseed but I think most
would agree that the Canyons is in great shape and we are looking forward to a wonderful fall and winter season.
With a productive summer
behind us, we moved into
what appears to look like a
very successful over-seed.
The weather conditions
cooperated except for the
hot temperatures hovering
around the first half of
September. The good news
was that the monsoon flow
from the south never
reached here and the winds
stayed light and variable
which always helps the

I would like to welcome everyone back
for the beginning of the 2016-17 golf sea-
son here at Oasis Golf Club in Mesquite.
We will have quite a few golf/social
events for the fall season including Valley
Rally, Nuts & Bolts, Kokopelli, OMGC
Member/Member, OMGC Stag Nites,
OWGA Opening Luncheon, and my fa-
vorite the Member Welcome Back Party.
All these events will happen before
Thanksgiving which makes the next six
weeks go by very quickly. I would like to
personally thank Scott Polychronis and
his staff for the tasks they have been
doing both on and around the golf
course. If you haven’t played either
course after overseed yet, they both
have great playing conditions. Moth-
er nature did cooperate as well with
temperatures cooling off considerably
in the last 30 days.
As you may or may not have heard,
I will be retiring at the end of the cal-
endar year. Kirk Lee, who is presi-
dent & CEO of Oasis will be assuming
the majority of the responsibilities.

Oasis Women’s Golf Association (OWGA)
The OWGA is once again
sponsoring the 6th annual
Valley Rally Sunday, Octo-
ber 30th on the Canyons
Course. This tournament
always fills up fast so
please don’t hesitate to
sign up your 2-person
team. You may also choose
your playing partners as
well for this tournament.
A new twist to the Val-
ley Rally will be the use of
wider holes. The competi-
tion will be a 2-person
scramble utilizing a per-
centage of each player’s
handicap.
Hole sponsorships are
also available in the golf
shop or online on our web-
site under the section
“2016 Valley Rally” on the
Oasis’ homepage. Member
entry is $40/player. Non-
Oasis members are $65/
player. This fee does in-
clude the BBQ after the
round as well as tourna-
ment prizes and tee prizes.
Tournament is limited to
the first 62 (2-person)
teams. Tournament is a
9:30 shotgun start on the
Canyons course. We hope
to see everyone there!
Last year the 5th Annual Valley Rally
competitors and sponsors raised over
$15,000 to benefit the local “Mesquite
Cancer HELP Society” (MCHS). This
year we hope to raise as much or
more like we have each consecutive
year. Thank you for your continued
support in this very exciting and bene-
ficial tournament to help out both
cancer survivors and patients. Don’t
forget to wear your PINK!
