Jim was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec on July 6, 1930, and attended Upper Canada College and Carleton Univer- sity. His Royal Regiment of Canada mates will recall Jim as a serving offi- cer, and before that as a Captain in the Cameron Highlanders in Ottawa; and his Toronto Star Syndicate col- leagues will recall his 36 years of lead- ership. Yet, ever devoted and supportive, Jim may well permit his greatest joy was his first and last glance on Marni Cherrier, his loving wife of 53 years, and daughters Kim and husband Larry Andrews and chil- dren Ryan, Kelley, Casey, and Jill Cherrier and spouse Rob Snowball.
