DICKENSON: Amelia (Amy)- (A stu-dent at St. Ignatius of Loyola and cur-rently attending Abbey Park) Amy was taken into the arms of an Angel on Fri-day, December 5, 2008 at Oakville in her 18th year. Loving daughter of Sharon (mom) and her husband Clive Smith, also John Dickenson (dad) and Joan Estacio. Cherished only grand-daughter of Ron Dickenson. Dear step- sister of Rebecca. Amy was much loved and will be greatly missed by many cousins, aunts, uncles and her many close friends. Amy greatly enjoyed physical activities such as scuba diving in the Caribbean as well as skiing in Collingwood, Alberta and British Columbia. She held the desig-nation of Advanced Open Water Diver and was an accomplished skier. Amy was well traveled spending time in Eu-rope, Central America and the Carib-bean. Her passions included music;she was an accomplished singer/per-former, guitarist and pianist. Addition-ally, she greatly enjoyed photography, art and writing. She planned on some day becoming a photo journalist. Visi-tation will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lake-shore Road West, Oakville (one block east of Kerr, 905-844-2600) from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, December 11, 2008 at St.Matthew’s Parish, 1150 Monks Pas-sage, Oakville. Interment to follow at Grove Cemetery, Dundas. CHERRIER, James Fuller- After a long and brave battle with cancer, Jim Cherrier in his 79th year on Thursday December 4, 2008 passed away at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital much as he lived, in graceful peace, and surrounded by his adoring family.Jim was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec on July 6, 1930, and attended Upper Canada College and Carleton Univer-sity. His Royal Regiment of Canada mates will recall Jim as a serving offi-cer, and before that as a Captain in the Cameron Highlanders in Ottawa;and his Toronto Star Syndicate col-leagues will recall his 36 years of lead-e r s h i p . Ye t , ev e r d ev o t e d a n d supportive, Jim may well permit his greatest joy was his f i rst and last glance on Marni Cherrier, his loving wife of 53 years, and daughters Kim and husband Larry Andrews and chil-dren Ryan, Kel ley, Casey, and Ji l l Cherrier and spouse Rob Snowball.In lieu of flowers, his family would be grateful for donations to Princess Mar-garet Hospital or the Oakville Hospital Foundation. Friends were invited to a memorial service at St. Judes Church, 160 William Street, Oakville, on Mon-day December 8 at 1:00 pm. She was an adoring Grandma to Christopher, Kris-ten and Justin, and Grandie to Colin, Cameron, Faith, Matthew and Nathan.Loving companion to Bill Cumming.She is survived by her sisters in Eng-land. Janet was retired from C.G.E. of Oakville and a well respected union leader of I.U.E. Local #544. She was an influential leader for equal rights for women, and a staunch advocate for the underdog. Janet loved life, enjoyed it to the fullest with a warm and adven-turous spirit that will be missed by all that knew her.
