Ontario's revered public education broad- casting organization, TVO, has taken notice of the inspiring work and learning unfolding within the walls of the Academy's preschool and kindergarten classrooms. Recently, a production crew from the fine arts-based children's show, Lisa Mona, which appears during the well-known Giselle's Big Backyard segments, came to the school to film a variety of vignettes featuring local Preschool and Kindergarten students atte nding OAA. Kim Speer, Director of the Preschool, Kindergarten and Afternoon Arts programs at the Academy , shares her reaction to the expe- rience: “We were thrilled to be approached by TVO. Their educational objectives for the Lisa Mona series mirror our own – to pro- mote the arts as a profound and meaningful vehicle for self-expression as well as a power - ful tool for making learning concrete and visible for young children. It really was a per - fect match!As a result of her involvement in the film- ing process, Speer now acts as an early learn- ing arts consultant for the series.
