Facts about Mardi Gras!! "Laissez les bon temps rouler" is the official greeting of
Mardi Gras.
It’s illegal to not wear a mask onboard a float during the
Parade.
The tradition of parading dates back to 1856.
Mardi Gras has rarely been canceled in New Orleans.
Mardi Gras is believed to have arrived in North America on
March 3, 1699, when the French-Canadian explorer Pierre
Le Moyne d’Iberville camped about 60 miles downriver
from the future site of New Orleans
Mardi Gras got going in New Orleans soon after the city’s
founding in 1718. The Spanish, who ruled the Big Easy
from 1762 to 1800, apparently cracked down on certain
Mardi Gras rituals (though documentation
from that period is scarce).

We will be having a painting class this month with Morris Weiner!!
Date: Tuesday March 19th , 2019 Time: 1:00 p.m.
There will be limited seats available and the first seats will go to those who sign up in advance. Please sign up in the
mailroom if you will be joining us for the class!
There will be a Resident Council Meeting
Thursday March 21st at 2:00 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room.
All residents are encouraged to attend!
On Thursday March 21st at 10:30 a.m. we will be having a cooking class with Jordan!!
This class will take place in the Arts and Crafts room and we will be making Peanut Butter Pie in a
Jar!!
Please Sign up in the Mailroom by Thursday March 14th if you will be joining us, seats will be limited and
go to those who sign up first!
On March 26th , Pet Rescue By Judy will be bringing some adorable, furry dog friends! Seniors, please join us from 2:00-2:30 in Bella Lane Memory Care and 2:30-3:00 in the plaza and share the love!

This Licks and Hugs program is being provided
You are Cordially Invited to “Be Our Guest” at the Oakmonte Cordova Tea Party on Tuesday March 12th, 2019 from 11:00
a.m until 1:30 p.m.
We will be having tea and lunch in the Multipurpose Room and will be watching Beauty and the Beast.
We will be serving a variety of
sandwiches, fruit and other delicious treats.

On Tuesday March 5th we will be having a Mardi Gras Party here at
Oakmonte.
