AN INTRODUCTION TO ALL SAINTS CE ACADEMY All Saints CE Academy All Saints CE Academy, originally opened in 1957 and which serves the Deanery of Weymouth and Portland, provides a calm, orderly and friendly environment within a framework of traditional Christian values. This encouraging and supportive atmosphere enables the staff to work purposefully with a sense of togetherness, and the students to enjoy and benefit from learning. We are a comprehensive school, catering for 11-16 year-olds, from which students progress to a variety of post-16 providers within easy reach. Comments from those receiving our leavers are enormously positive with praise for their work ethic whilst contributing and involving themselves in areas and leadership beyond their study. The area Weymouth is in south Dorset and forms part of the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site. A classic coastal resort, Weymouth has a variety of safe and sandy beaches, whilst the island of Portland is only a few miles away. Chesil Beach runs for eighteen miles from Portland to West Bay and encompasses the Fleet lagoon. The Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy which showcased the Sailing Events in the 2012 Olympics is on our doorstep. The school lies adjacent to the Portland harbour and has stunning views from its grounds – in particular, from the school playing fields, Art and Humanities classrooms. A regular rail service runs between Weymouth and London via Dorchester, Bournemouth and Southampton. There is also a rail service to Bristol via Yeovil and Bath. Exeter, Bath, Salisbury and Portsmouth are all within reasonable driving distance. The Values, Vision and Mission Statement The Christian ethos is central and vital to the school’s character. All staff are respectful of the range of beliefs that our community hold and we care for each person, wherever they are in life’s journey. When we speak about our values, they include words such as: trust, respect, empathy, kindness, and equality. Our Vision is to “Act Wisely, Build Community, Help Others” and our Mission Statement is to Inspire the community of All Saints Academy to embrace the fullness of life.
