Understanding the World

Throughout the year we have been learning about the importance of

composting and recycling, and other things we can do to make the

world a better place. On April 22nd, the world celebrated Earth Day

and we thought we could dive deeper and explore our planet Earth.

Let’s read the wonderful story of Earth Day Everyday by Lisa

Bullard because it is something we should think about all year round

and not just a day!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qvdhsn-BFDI

Who are earthlings? What can earthlings do to help the earth?

How do planting trees help animals?

What is an Earth Day Trade? Why is it better to trade than to buy

new things?

Can you write a list of all the things you can do every day that will

make the world better?

Many people have been trying really hard to save the earth like scientist

Sir David Attenborough. Let’s watch his important message about plastic

pollution. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLx4fVsYdTI&t=2s

Now, let’s learn a song to help us remember to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOvcW8l3RzE

Reception Save the Earth Paper Chain

Use the attached template (see below) resource to write a sentence describing

ways you can help to save the Earth. Send a picture of your chain to school and

we will create a ‘Reception Save the Earth Paper Chain’ to show everyone how we

can make the world a better place

Earth to put up in our home. Using any material you have

in your home, can you make our planet earth? How many

different ways can you make planet earth?

Handwriting

Throughout the year we have been practicing how to form the letters correctly.

Most letters should now be formed correctly. For more handwriting support please

see the attached handwriting sheets for your child to practice the formation of

letters.

This half term we will be looking Earth and space. Something extremely exciting

happened at the weekend. NASA astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas

Hurley lifted off successfully from Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Saturday.

They are known as Crew Dragon Demo-2 and are the first two-person orbital

spaceflight launched from the United States since STS-4 in 1982.

To watch the launched click on the link:
