This year we will again feature an excellent summary of the St. Michael’s Endoscopycourse. This is an opportunity to update your technical endoscopic skills.
The OAG takes pride in its members and the contributions they make to the practiceof Gastroenterology in Ontario. This year, we will be honouring Dr. Alvin Newman,of Mount Sinai Hospital, with the OAG Award.
Our Companions will enjoy the arts and culture synonymous with Niagara-on-the-Lake. They will take a look behind the scenes at the Shaw with a guided compre-hensive backstage tour of the Festival Theatre and learn about the many facets of livetheatre. They will also have at their disposal a choice of two spas (at the Pillar andPost Inn or the Prince of Wales Hotel) at which they can relax and rejuvenate. We willonce again have an opportunity to enjoy the town of Niagara-on-the-Lake duringour ever-popular Lunch About, with a choice of great restaurants in town.

WELCOME
I look forward to welcoming you to the Ontario Association of Gastroenterology (OAG) 16th Annual Conference and hope you willenjoy your experience in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
I know all the academic people and residents fully understand theCanMEDs system. To us 'country doctors' we only see it as an
optional check mark when filling out our MOCOMP hours. What is it all about andhow does it apply to the practicing gastroenterologist?
Your Conference organizing committee has looked at all the aspects of the CanMEDSframework, and found dynamic speakers in each of the categories. The topics will berelevant and stimulating to the practicing gastroenterologist. No debate this year, just good old fashioned knowledge. There will be ample opportunity to discuss theseissues both during discussion periods and leisure time. Other highlights of the Conference will be the almost annual talk from St. Michael’s Hospital EndoscopyCourse, and the Annual General Meeting.
The Companion Program will feature a backstage tour of the world famous ShawFestival Theatre. The highlight event of the weekend will be the annual Gala - a greatopportunity to mingle with your friends and colleagues. This year we will be honouring Dr. Alvin Newman. We will also be congratulating Dr. David Baron forthree outstanding years as the OAG President.
We look forward to seeing you in October.
