OAcademy is an orchestral journey of a different kind. It is a platform for the most promising global musicians to achieve their artistic and human potential. It is about instilling powerful tools and resources that allow natural gifts to blossom into extraordinary abilities, and about the purpose that comes from connecting these abilities to real-world needs. OAcademy participants graduate industry-ready. This means not just being able to win auditions, land jobs, and gain promotions. It means standing out from the crowd. Standing out goes beyond world-class artistic training. It depends on wide-ranging skills connected to collaboration, technology, learning, teaching, leadership, problem-solving, and presentation. These innovative skills form the vessel, but mindset is the compass that guides it. For this reason, five powerful mindset practices are developed through the OAcademy learning experience. This means observing yourself, learning from others, developing your voice, contributing to a community, and becoming empowered to act. OAcademists play leading roles as artists in orchestras and changemakers in communities. OAcademists succeed not only in meeting the present demands of the sector, but in navigating and responding to the ever-shifting needs of society and its future. This is the 360° journey of OAcademy.

PART I
MASTERING ARTISTRY & TECHNIQUE
Throughout the first seven weeks of the program, Academists receive advanced technical and orchestral training from OAcademy’s faculty of world-class musicians under the guidance of top institutions from Canada’s National Arts Centre to Bard College Conservatory. Tailored Instrumental Studio Classes, specialized Masterclasses, orchestral Repertoire Sessions, and Digital-Ensemble Performance Training form the core of the initial curriculum and set the basis for the intensive, multi-faceted learning journey ahead.
PART II
EXPANDING CROSS-DISCIPLINARY CREATIVITY, COLLABORATION, & LEADERSHIP
The second part of OAcademy focuses on personal growth, imagination, and innovation in performance. Alongside Instrumental Studio Classes with Core Faculty, OAcademists hone leadership skills through Principals & Concertmaster Learning Streams led by visiting international professors. Chamber Music and Digital Performance are a focus throughout these eight weeks of the journey as cross-cultural peer groups collaborate digitally to develop innovative ensemble performances in alliance with Brooklyn Rider & The Museum of the Americas, together with other supporting partners.
PART III
ENTERING THE INDUSTRY – EXCEL, CONNECT, TRANSFORM
The final nine weeks of OAcademy focus on refining virtuosity, refining digital recording abilities through full orchestra projects with leading contemporary composers, expanding teaching artistry through community engagement, and mastering the process of professional auditions through coached juries. Curated by renowned artist development agency HarrisonParrott, OAcademists receive Virtuoso-themed training under the guidance of Grammy winning violinist Gil Shaham and other leading soloists. Acquired skills are put into practice in a multistage jury process coached by The Curtis Institute of Music that culminates in graduation-oriented live examinations and feedback sessions with the Principals of The Royal Concertgebouw and New York’s Metropolitan Opera.

OAcademy’s globally connected classroom enables participants to seamlessly collaborate with peers on group assignments—ensuring enriching cultural exchange and first-hand knowledge sharing at each step along the way.
CONVENIENT ACCESS
OAcademy’s live instruction is limited to Tuesdays and Wednesdays during fixed hours to enable busy participants to juggle learning schedules with complex outside professional and conservatory commitments. The curriculum experience is split into carefully organized segments to allow OAcademists to focus on getting the most out of their experience.

THE LEARNING EXPERIENCE
PERFORMATIVE TRAINING
Instrumental Studio Classes: Personalized training provided biweekly for each instrumental family by the OAcademy’s prestigious Studio Faculty, targeting core orchestral repertoire.
Masterclasses: Focusing on a wide-ranging repertoire of the participants’ choice and led by a rotating pool of leading global institutions and leaders in the orchestral field.
Full Orchestra Repertoire Sessions: Comprehensive study and in-depth analysis of the orchestral repertoire, and an opportunity for deconstructive practice and internalization of the orchestral canon through live, on-screen participation and interaction with the conductor and fellow musicians.
Juries: A multi-stage process supported by coaching from top institutions and leading reviewers that allow fellows to demonstrate mastery and prove that they are industry ready.
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
Principals Series Masterclasses: Broad lessons on section leading practices for each instrumental family curated by global orchestral principals.
Concertmaster Series Masterclasses: Exploring orchestral roles and dynamics among the concertmaster, conductor, and the orchestra. Tailored for violinists and all instrumentalists alike.
Virtuoso Series Masterclasses: Full Academy learning experiences with global artists that build on-stage individual leadership and performance practices, based on solo repertoire.

PROGRAM COMPONENTS
Kelly Zimba (Toronto Symphony Orchestra) leads audition & competition training workshop
Digital Ensemble Performance Projects: Reinventing the concert experience and communication with audiences, and equipping fellows to succeed in building their audiences using contemporary cross-disciplinary platforms in ensemble performance, such as visuals and storytelling.
Full Orchestra Recordings: Honing digital recording and producing skills in an ever-transforming performing world through a large orchestral recording project that connects fellows across borders.
SKILLS EXPANSION
Community Engagement Sessions: Direct collaboration between each fellow and a global music institution, in order to develop crucial educational skills that shape the artists of the future.
Social Entrepreneurship Training through The Global Leaders Program: Designed for multidimensional performing artists with an entrepreneurial mindset, it enables selected fellows to join as observers in a wide range of classes.

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS
To access OAcademy, participants will need to ensure the following: ° Regular access at the times of OAcademy live sessions to an instrument and a private practice
room.
° Computing device connected to high-speed internet capable of receiving and transmitting streaming video.
° Microsoft Office and PDF viewer to access content such as documents, spreadsheets, presentations, PDF files, and transcripts.
° The latest version of a preferred browser to access our learning platform, Google Classroom.
° These are the core technical requirements of participation. Participants will be informed of detailed schedules and additional requirements upon offer of acceptance.
