o Specialists in the HRO review resumes for each position AFTER the closing date of the opening. Resumes are screened for the following: Minimum Qualifications, Specialized Experience, Military Rank (where applicable), and area of consideration.

o Once the reviews are complete, a packet of MINIMLLY qualified applicants is provided to the Hiring Manager, who maintains control of the packet, until it is returned for approval of the selectee.

1) Build your resume (s) utilizing USA Jobs. Have someone proof-read your resume.

2) When writing your resume expand on your job experience. Tell us what duties YOU

actually performed (not what the job required or what the Position Description indicates).

3) If not using the USA Jobs template, ensure that the dates of each experience are included (month/year, e.g., Jul/02 - Aug/04). In general, each announcement has a “months of experience” requirement. For example, if you indicate 2009-2010 this

could be 2 months or 24. We can not credit any time for a position when months are

not quantifiable.

4) Be sure to include ALL documents required for the position. Announcements typically require only a resume, but if Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience is an option, you MUST include a transcript. Some openings also require

certifications or Veterans Preference (Title 5 jobs only) support documentation.

5) For reservists, include your drill assignments (individually) and the associated duties performed in each assignment (in as much detail). Do not list duty appointment/MOS/AFSC only, without including the work performed. You will receive full-credit for years of experience, even if you perform this job once a month.

1) Your resume MUST be completed in your own words. ** DO NOTcopy/paste from standardized position descriptions or military duty descriptions

into your resume! You will be disqualified due to plagiarism.2) Do not submit any documentation, other than what is required in the announcement. (for example, appraisals, military ratings, awards, biographical sketches, etc.).3) Bullet pointing your duties in the job description is not recommended. This hinders elaboration, causes brevity and turns into a list, instead of a description of the work performed.4) Do not assume that the person reviewing your resume knows the duties required of a military specialty. Job titles alone receive no credit.
