2016 - 2017 NY I P RE S I DE NT ' S RE PORT NYI Delegates, Reverend Smith, and Assembled Body,
I greet you in the wonderful name of Jesus --the author and perfecter of ourfaith! Your love for our Savior, willingness to serve His Kingdom, and your pursuitof His ways makes serving in this role such a blessing and encouragement to mylife.
It has been another great year in the life of Philly NYI! We've servedtogether. We've worshipped together. We've prayed together and we'veexperienced powerful spiritual break-throughs. I strongly encourage each of youto "be confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on tocompletion until the day of Christ Jesus"(Phil 1:6).
I would caution that great does not mean without challenge. To meet thesechallenges it takes great leadership, direction, and communication from our NYIMinistry Leaders, but, even more importantly, it takes supportive, loving, andcommitted Pastors, Youth Pastors, NYI Presidents, ministry leaders, andvolunteers on the front lines of youth ministry. I commend each of you as youlabor for Christ in your mission field. We are co-labors with Him!The apostle Paul writes in Galatians 6:9, "Let us not become weary in doinggood, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." I urgeall of us, youth and adults, to not give up on doing good, but to "press on towardthe goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in ChristJesus" (Phil 3:14).
As we look toward the future and this coming year, I implore you to embrace and live out this verse: "Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and inpurity." (1 Tim 4:12). The world preaches a different message and our adversaryis cunning and crafty, but I believe, by the power of the Holy Spirit, we do nothave to conform any longer to the patterns of this world. We can be transformedby the renewing of our minds as we offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holyand pleasing to God—this is our true and proper worship (Rom 12:1-3).
Philly NYI, I urge you to keep your eyes on Jesus and seek his direction above all else. Always remember you have brothers and sisters in Christ across this district that are journeying with you as we seek first His Kingdom and righteousness.
Respectfully Submitted,Rev. Darin Parry

District Budgets as of 2/28/17
Administration
This year we had a decline in attendance for both district and regional levels of FOL. We believe this is due to large classes graduating in many of our local churches. Despite having lower numbers, we were able to take a lot of steps in a forward direction to increase attendance in the future. We have restructured the events of district FOL which creates a more fun environment for students to come to. This upcoming year we will be focusing on outreach with district FOL as an opportunity for non-churched teens to come and see the bigger picture of Nazarene youth ministry.
We are establishing more relationships on the Regional level to be able to work together to make FOL a more impactful experience for the students, and for ENC as they recruit. In the upcoming year, we will be involving more local pastors in the organization to better utilize the different skill sets that everyone brings to the table, and in doing that we will be able to create a better event. This alongside online registration, and better communication will hopefully impact our numbers in a positive way. As we move forward with this event we will cover it in prayer and forward thinking, to make sure we are able to continue to have a tremendous impact on the students of our churches and helping them grow in Christ.
In Christ,Brandon Estep

I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.
Luke 15:7This season has been a challenge for us, but the Lord is good and we are doing our very best!THE MISSION
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17The mission of Teen Bible Quizzing is simple and yet so important – it is to get teens into the Word of God and the Word of God into our teens. Teen Bible quizzing is not the most popular of the ministries that the district offers, but it is equally as important. We thank Eli Heisey, our Senior Rep. and High School Graduate!!NEW WAYS OF BRANCHING OUTWe believe that Teen Bible Quizzing can be a strong ministry and that it can thrive and help change lives. However, we’ve reached a point where we’ve gotten a little stale in our publicizing of quizzing and encouraging teens to give it a try. We are asking the NYI leadership, as a team, would you help us to brainstorm ideas, to encourage our teens at meets and to bring new life into the ministry as a whole? We also ask that you as the council will please continue to pray for and encourage both the leadership (district and local) and the teens that we have.
We invite YOU to COME – Check out a quiz meet!TENTATIVE SCHEDULE 2017-2018 SEASON: 1 & 2 Corinthians

FINANCESWe still charge $5 per student for lunch at every quiz meet and retain a receipt for any expenses to send to Tami so that each church can be reimbursed. We plan on spending the bulk of our budget ($1000) and the cash that we have from last year for the Eastern Field Quiz this May. We use this money for T-Shirts and transportation to and from ENC.
1. Please continue to care about and encourage teen Bible quizzing. Ask your teens how quizzing is going. Take a few minutes to check out a quiz if there is one in your area. Follow us on the Philadelphia District NYI for details and pictures!
2. Please continue to pray for this ministry That it will grow as God sees best For leadership as we seek God’s direction in our lives as well as with Teen
Quizzing The hearts of teens – that they would desire to dive deeper into God’s word For the relationships/friendships built that will last for lifetimes That we do well in the competition aspect of TBQ. Most of all, that our teens will grow deeper in their faith, full of the knowledge of
our Lord Jesus Christ and that they will surrender their all to Him, stand firm and share the good news of salvation to the world around them.

Back to School Rally 2016Greetings,
The following is the report for the Back to School Rally. This past years B2SR, was held on Friday, September 2nd 2016. The event was held at Camel Back Resort at their indoor water park area “Aquatopia.” We had in attendance 303 students, and 65 adults. With those numbers we had 26 churches represented. Our attendance was slightly down from previous years but this was slightly expected because of the transition to a new facility. The event brought in $10,610. But our overall price for the event was $12,000 so because of some lower numbers we were slightly over budget leaving us a deficit, 1,390. Overall the event was a huge success, Camelback as a organization given our group very high praises and were overjoyed in the hopes of us to return. I was able to secure our district a three-year contract, with camel back that we would return, and be granted the same $12,000 for the next three years, which is great!
Going forward the event will have a few changes that are going to be addressing. The first being the time of the event. We are going to continue to have event Labor Day weekend. This year it will fall on the 1st of September into the 2nd. What has changed due to our contract is we are expected to now arrive at 11pm instead of 10pm. We will still be ending at 5am. This shaves an hour of the trip, but should also allow us to have some more students attend, “Football/band students.”
I am also proposing that we a raise the price of the event by 5 dollars making it an even $40, this price raise will help us close the gap on the deficit that we had this past year and should encourage growth going forward. Good things are still to come! God Bless you all.

Refresh Retreat Report
This past year’s Refresh Retreat experienced a lot of changes. We moved its location from Fairview Village to Lansdale Immanuel and thus transitioned our work sites from Norristown to the greater Lansdale area. 90 students, and 21 adult leaders were able to attend and serve at 9 area locations ranging from retirement centers to food pantries. The cover charge for Refresh was $10, collected $900, spent $848.04 for material expenses and an additional $750 for speaker and worship band. Our thoughts for next year: signing up for projects ahead of time, donations for hot breakfast, inviting area youth groups to attend evening worship service. We look forward to continuing this event next year at the same location and timeframe of MLK weekend.

Young Adult Ministry Report
It is a great pleasure to serve the District as the YOUNG ADULT Pastor. I am excited about what the future holds for the Philadelphia District. It is my goal in 2017-18 to develop and train more Young Adult leaders. We are looking to reshape our vision for the coming year.
Scripture:"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together…but let us encourage one another...." ~Hebrews 10:24-25
Some of our Purpose going forward will be :
To bring together young adults between the ages of post-high school thru age 30 who have a common
purpose in seeking a redemptive relationship with God.
To come together in faith, fun, and fellowship.
Creatively and completely involve Nazarene Young Adults on the Field and District Level.
Create and Cultivate a meaningful Internship Program
Support and Encourage - Youth In Missions and the many opportunities open to Young Adults
Identify the Young Leaders and their call to ministry and help them develop inroads to that calling
This will be a great year on the district and I anticipate a lot of new interactions. Thanks for the support and
be looking for the launch of new events and initiatives. We will be updating and announcing our efforts
through NYI.ORG
See ya Soon!
