The war in Afghanistan came to a close on Dec 31, 2014
The US and its allies turned over combat operations to the Afghan army.
This was the longest war in US History (13 years)

The end of the war begins a new struggle for many families to get the recognition they deserve
Many veterans are still fighting physical wounds as well as mental trauma

Approximately 12,000 troops will stay behind to help train Afghan troops.
