NVS Vector Stream Tool Installation This tool was originally developed for ArcGIS Desktop 9.3.x and ported to ArcGIS 10. It has not been

tested on ArcGIS 10.1, so results may vary. The installation process and steps to add the tool to an

ArcGIS 10 installation are below:

1. Run the installation file downloaded from the storefront (NVSVectorStreamToolsSetup_v10.msi)

2. When the installer is complete, open ArcMap or ArcCatalog and go to your ArcToolbox

tab/panel

3. Steps vary at this point. If you just want to add the NVS Vector Stream tool to an existing system

or custom toolbox, skip to Step 8. If you want to create a new toolbox to contain the NVS tool,

continue to Step 4.

4. Right-click the top-level ArcToolbox group in your ArcToolbox pane and select Add Toolbox…

from the context menu.

5. You can either add a new toolbox in My Toolboxes or in the System Toolboxes, so go into either

option and click the New Toolbox button.

6. Give the new toolbox a name that makes sense and, with it selected, click the Open button to

add this new empty toolbox into your ArcToolbox list.

7. Go to your ArcToolbox pane/list and look for the new toolbox you just added.

8. Right-click the toolbox and select Add > Tool… from the context menu that comes up

9. A new window will come with a list of toolboxes and tools to add into your currently-selected

toolbox. This list should have a toolbox for NVSStreamTools with a Toolset named Vector

Streams and a tool named Vector Stream Order. Check the NVSStreamTools toolbox and click

OK to add this tool into your toolbox.

10. You should now have the Vector Stream Order tool available in your ArcToolbox. In order to

always have access to it, you may want to save the current ArcToolbox settings by right-clicking

the ArcToolbox group and selecting Save Settings > To Default.
