The incumbent is expected to work independently with groups of youth aged K-12 under the direction of the youth coordinator. This position receives detailed instructions on new projects and assignments, work is discussed frequently, and supervisor signs off on all activities. Team: Social Services Salary range: 11.50-13.00/hr Reports to: Youth Coordinator Schedule: Temporary, 20-25 hrs p/week, Salary Status: Non Exempt from Overtime Last Revised April, 2014 Responsibilities/Duties Assists with Miqwanwasaq cultural day camp preparation Leads youth through day camp activities Contacts Tribal Members and Youth about upcoming events and other opportunities Coordinates with other Tribal Family Services departments for youth activities Acts as chaperone on trips and youth events Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) Good knowledge of computers, office equipment and Microsoft Office suite. Knowledge of traditional crafts. Ability to organize and plan events, knowledge of appropriate abilities for each age child. Ability to lead, supervise and teach children, keeping them on task and ensuring appropriate, safe behavior. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with youth and co-workers. Ability to work with a supervisor, capable of using resources to carry tasks to completion. Good knowledge of motorized and non- motorized recreation vehicles. Ability to successfully pass a background check. Experience Requirements One year experience working in a leadership role with youth. One year experience working with Microsoft Office Suite. CULTURAL SUMMER INTERN

This position assists the Youth Coordinator in planning and holding youth events in order to service at risk

Environmental Factors Majority of work will be indoors in a gym and office

Will be working in noisy and chaotic atmosphere with children

Will be out of doors in all types of weather including cold and wet weather

May have contact with and operate outdoor motorized sport vehicles including watercraft

May have exposure to potentially dangerous wildlife

Slight risk of exposure to blood borne and infectious pathogens
