Letter from the EditorIt’s Christmas time again and while that means snow and ice for me, I hear the weather in New Zealand is quite nice right now. Which just makes me grumpy tbh. But it’s hard to stay miserable when there are so many pretty decorations and christmas lights ev-erywhere. The interesting thing about the Ninja community is that it reaches in to many very different countries and so in this issue I recommend you take a look at the Christ-mas articles put together by Ninja’s from around the world. You can also check out the second cookbook we have now put out, or if the holidays aren’t realy your thing you can check out Jubri’s Dracula article, Wadswerth’s introduction to open source art, or Spa-mela’s Netipot article. There is always something for everybody in the NV Mag. This is of course thanks to the help of the contributors to the magazine who always make my job super easy. No one has been more helpful than Jubri in bringing the magazine together. This issue while I was busy studying for my exams, Jubri was out harping on everybody to get in submissions, coming up with article ideas, rallying together artists, and putting together some awesome articles herself. Due to her amazing dedication to the magazine she has definitely earned the title of assistant editor that she has been awarded. Now it’s time for me to wrap up this poorely written letter and say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of our readers and I will see you next issue!

Sinus and allergy symptoms are difficult to manage and typically require the use of prescription medication to control. Neti pots, are an ancient tool used to cleanse out irritants and allergens from the nasal passage, plus with a small amount of salt in the water, it can help to moisturize the nasal cavity to help prevent it from getting inflamed.

Neti Pots became popular with practitioners of yoga in India and have been used for centuries in the Ayurveda tradi-tion. One key element of Yoga is smooth, clear breathing and the Neti helps achieve this.

At first glance, the Neti pot seems frightening to use - after all, who purposely pours water up their nose...but with a little practice, its very easy to use and there is never any pain or irritation. The key is to relax, breathe out of your mouth and to use lukewarm water. How to Neti:

Some people then do the other side, but I have never seen a need for that. I like to neti once a week when I’m healthy and every day when I’m not. At $10 - $25 each, Neti Pots are affordable and much cheaper than medication but the best reason to Neti is

that it can relieve or eliminate a lot of sinus problems and sicknesses.

• Start with your pot half filled with lukewarm water and a bit of salt (1/4 tsp)

Tuck your chin a little and then tilt your head to the side, so that your ear is parallel to your shoulder

Place the tip of the spout in one nostril and slowly tip the pot until you feel the water enter your nose. ** It may take a few moments before the water begins to pour out of the other nostril...do not panic! The water needs to travel the entire length of your sinuses which is quite a bit. Just breathe through your mouth and relax.

When the pot is empty, remove it and lean over the sink so that the remaining water can continue draining out - then, VERY GENTLY blow your nose in a tissue. You will probably notice alot of clear mucus draining out. This is a good sign!
