One Line of Diets Protects in Three Ways

Mechanical ActionThe kibble texture is adapted through the use of porosity measurement and texturometry, to enhance the depth of tooth penetration into the kibble before it breaks and promote the brushing effect. The texture and shape of the kibble produce a gentle abrasive effect on the teeth during chewing. This mechanical action provides a “brushing” effect to reduce the accumulation of dental plaque and subsequent calculus.

Chemical ActionSodium tripolyphosphate (STPP) binds salivary calcium making it unavailable for the mineralization of plaque and formation of calculus.

Without sodium tripolyphosphate

Available calcium

Trapped calcium

With sodium tripolyphosphate

Through the chelating action of sodium polyphosphate, salivary calcium becomes unavailable for dental plaque mineralization.

Antibacterial ActionA specific nutrient incorporated by ROYAL CANIN helps reduce dental plaque build-up.

Dry expanded diet with triangular kibble shape and no oral care purpose

Dry expanded diet with rectangular kibble shape formulated for oral care purpose, including STPP and Plaque Reducing Nutrient (PRN)
