Results and Analysis

By: Daniela Bravo Tobar Nutrition is very important because your life depends on it. If

you have a good nutrition, your life will be healthy and you won´t be sick, but if you do not have a good nutrition, your life will not be healthy and you will have lots of problems. In order to know how healthy our community is, the students of the American School of Quito started a project in their technology class called “Nutrition In Our Community”. It all started with a survey that each student ad to create in groups and send it to ten people by e-mail in their contact list. A week after that, they got all the results together and analyzed them. Now they are building a magazine with all the results so that everyone can know if people in our community are healthy or not. In this article, you will find all the results with graphs to help you notice how nutrition in our community is.

When people were asked how often they eat fast food, 12%

said never. There was also the option of one time a week and 36% people chose this option. Another option was two times a week which 5% chose. Then came the option of four times a week and 0% chose it. Finally, there was the option of one time a month and 47% chose this option.

When people were asked how much time they take eating, 5%

said ten minutes. Another option was twenty minutes and 28% chose. After that, came the option of fifteen minutes and 16% chose it. Another option was thirty minutes which 49% chose. The last option was forty minutes and only 2% chose it.

When people were asked if they have breakfast all days, 75%

said yes. Then came the option that said no and 11% chose it. The last option was sometimes and 14% chose it.

When people were asked what snacks do they normally chose,

chips and 19% chose it. After that, came the option of cookies that had 21%. The last option was candy and 5% chose it.

When people were asked what they eat ore between fast food

and homemade food, 16% said fast food and 84% said 84%.

When people were asked how many complete meals do they

have a day, 0% said never. Then came the option of three times a day and 44% chose it. After that there was the option of two time a day and 29& chose it. The last option was 1 time a day and 27% chose it.

When people were asked how many times they have fruits and

salads a day, 0% said never. Then came the option of one time a day and 46% chose it. Another option was two times a day and 34% people chose it. The last answer was three times a day and 20% people chose it.

When people were asked what they drink the most when they

go out to restaurants, 29% said juice. Then came the option of coke and 31% chose it. After that, was the option of water and 23% people chose it. The last option was Nestea and 17% people chose it.

When people were asked if they have desert all days, the

options were yes with 0%, no with 65% and sometimes with 35%.

When people were asked what they do while they are eating,

there were three options: nothing with 26%, watch T.V. with 29% and talk with 45%.

These are the results of the surveys. As you can see, there are

people who have a good nutrition and have healthy eating habits. There are also people who have a little bit to improve and there are people who do not have good eating habits and have to improve a lot if they want to have a healthy life. I hope this article has marked your life and will help you and your siblings improve your eating habits!!!

Menu For A Good Nutrition By: Juan Martin Arboleda

Breakfast

• 1 scrambled egg • 1 toast • 5 strawberries • Fruit juice • Milk • Bacon

Lunch

• 1 breast of grilled chicken • 1 cup of scalloped potato • Fruit juice • Salad (carrot, tomato, palm heart) • Fruit salad

Dinner

• Nutrients • Sandwich (ham, cheese, lettuce)

Recipe of the scalloped potatoes

• 10 potatoes, peeled and sliced • 1 (8 ounce) package Cheddar cheese, cubed • 1/2 cup butter • 1 cup milk • 2 teaspoons cooking sherry

• 1 cup cornflakes cereal crumbs • 1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). • 2.Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add potatoes and

cook until tender, about 15 • minutes. Drain and place in a 2 quart casserole dish. • 3. In a microwave safe dish combine cheese, butter and milk.

Microwave until cheese and butter • Melt; stir in the sherry. Pour cheese mixture over potatoes and

sprinkle cornflakes crumbs on • Top. • 4. Bake in preheated oven for 15 to 30 minutes, or until heated

through.
