What Our Clients Want

Study done by Baylor College of Medicine with sample of agencies showed us that:

1) Clients want to know what to eat and how to prepare it (face-to-face classes with food demonstrations)

2) Printed nutrition brochures/fliers for food sacks/box (in both Spanish and English)

What HFB Can Do

• Present 5-part series free of charge or special one time classes as needed

• Provide copies of recipes or nutrition education materials for a distribution with a week’s notice

• Provide nutrition education/demo at a distribution with 2 week notice

• Utilize your line up time

recipes and products, plus face-to-face with clients

Look for teenagers as volunteers through local high schools

• February: National Heart Month Salt, weight and cholesterol

• March: National Nutrition Month MYPLATE or Portion Distortion

Keep It Simple

• One simple positive message or theme repeated in various ways More effective than a lot of information And easier to translate

Keep It Simple

• Don’t drink your sugar. Switch to calorie-free drinks.

• Do meatless Mondays. Eat only plant foods for 24 hours and save a heart.

• Fiber is easy when it comes from a fresh fruit or vegetable.
