Nutrition And You: Tips To Boost Your Nutrition Habits

A variety of healthy foods are needed for a well-rounded diet. Unless you're acting on the

advice of your doctor, you should only take one multivitamin a day. Taking excess vitamins

can put your body off balance.

Include breakfast in your nutritious diet plan. Breakfast is more important than any other

meal, since it gives you nutrients as well as a boost in metabolism.

A great nutrition tip is to make sure you eat plenty of fruits and vegetables every day. The

USDA says that at least 9 servings a day of veggies and fruits is essential. That may seem

like a lot to you, but it's fairly easy to get them all in. For example, add orange juice to your

daily breakfast routine and use a tomato-based sauce when preparing pasta.

It's good to have someone on your side when you make a major life change. Beginning a diet

is no exception! Allies can come in the form of a mentor, or a friend who is also dieting. The

critical part is connecting with an ally to discuss things with.

When preparing a meal, make sure it contains foods that will give you all the nutrients you

need. The nutrients that are essential for your body to function are fatty acids, amino acids,

vitamins, and minerals. It's possible to get these nutrients from supplements, but food is

always a better source of nutrients than an artificial supplement.

Berries, pears and peaches taste great when pureed and are a healthy snack. These fruits

make a great dip or spread for toast, chips or even pretzels. Try different kinds of fruit.

Change things up often so you don't become tired of fruit.

To maximize the impact of the healthy changes you are making, make sure that you get

enough sleep. Sleeping is the time when your body recovers from the stress it has endured

during the day.

A good way of getting them to try new food is by describing what it looks and feels like, and

not how it tastes. Simply describing the texture of the food may interest your child enough to

try it.

When you are trying to add more fruits and veggies to your diet, consider trying fruit juices.

This can be a great, time saving solution for people that don't have the time to prepare raw

veggies and fruit. Juices provide vitamins and minerals without the hassle of pealing and

chopping. In order to prevent tooth decay, dentists recommend drinking fruit juice through a

straw.

Greek yogurt is an excellent source of protein, try it out! Non-fat Greek yogurt can be used in

place of sour cream for most recipes. In fact, it can be used in practically any recipe that

requires a cream-based ingredient. If you need another source of protein, try eating Greek

yogurt.

These tips are just an indication of the many steps you can take to develop nutritious eating

habits. Take the information learned to make a healthy nutrition plan for you and your family.

Eating healthy can not only prolong your life, but can also help you and your family to be

more active. Changing the way you live is one of the best ways to increase your satisfaction

with your life.
