WHAT WILL YOU LEARN IN REGISTERED NURSING (RN)? The RN Associate in Applied Science degree program prepares you for an entry-level position as a registered nurse who provides safe, competent nursing care in the dynamic and evolving healthcare environment. These settings can include acute care, long term care, home care, clinics, physicians’ offices, or other agencies. RNs administer medication and treatment to patients, coordinate plans for patient care, perform diagnostic tests, and analyze results, instruct patients on how to manage illnesses after treatment, and oversee other workers such as LPNs, nursing aides, and home care aides.

» The curriculum includes clinical learning to provide you with the opportunity to apply nursing theory in client care situations; these experiences are scheduled at a variety of healthcare agencies in the Lehigh Valley and surrounding areas.

» Graduates who successfully complete the program are eligible to apply to a State Board of Nursing for licensure as an RN and to take the National Council Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN®).

» In addition to Nursing courses included in the LPN program, the RN curriculum includes Nursing Care of Patients with M/S Problems, Nursing Seminar, Integrated Concepts for Nursing Practice, and Nursing Practicum.
