Start at a Maricopa Community College The Maricopa Community Colleges provide an affordable way for you to progress toward a bachelor’s degree. You can complete an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Nursing at a Maricopa college near you and then transfer to a 4-year college or university for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Some of Maricopa’s university transfer partners even offer programs that allow you to earn your AAS and BSN degrees at the same time. You will save money, learn from highly qualified faculty, and get to know yourself as a student by starting your college education at a Maricopa Community College.

Transfer Options in Nursing While you can transfer anywhere, the Maricopa Community Colleges have established transfer partnerships with quality, reputable colleges and universities. These university partnerships help you transition smoothly from one institution to the next by maximizing the applicability of your Maricopa Community College credits and AAS degree. In addition, many university

partners offer you early advisement and transcript evaluation, as well as financial incentives such as transfer scholarships, waived

application fees, textbook waivers, and special tuition incentives for military personnel.

Concurrent Enrollment Programs (CEP)Concurrent Enrollment (Associate-Baccalaureate)

Programs in nursing are offered at participating community colleges in the Maricopa Community College District in

partnership with select universities. These programs are designed for qualified nursing students who are interested

in completing an associate’s degree and bachelor’s degree at the same time. CEP students graduate with a BSN degree

approximately one semester after graduating with an AAS degree, which allows them to seek employment at a higher

education level much sooner than they would following a traditional transfer program. A limited number of participants are selected from the pool of Maricopa Nursing students who have applied to the program and meet all CEP eligibility requirements. Please note: Students are required to register for and attend a CEP information session in order to be eligible to submit an application for the program.

To date, Maricopa offers Concurrent Enrollment Programs with the following institutions: Arizona State University (ASU), Northern Arizona University,

Arizona State University’s RN to BSN Pathway Program is comprised of specific coursework that enables students earning an Associate in Applied Science degree at the Maricopa Community Colleges to transfer to ASU without loss of credit. Students follow a prescribed sequence of courses that guarantees admission to the nursing program at ASU’s College of Nursing and Health Innovation and provides access to online tools to monitor progress toward a degree. To sign up for the RN to BSN Pathway Program, see an academic advisor at your Maricopa Community College, and for more information, please go to maricopa.edu/alliance. Other options for nursing students transferring to ASU include the Concurrent Enrollment Program, or taking general education requirements and nursing prerequisites which can count toward an Associate in Arts degree, then applying to ASU’s BSN program. The Northern Arizona University Connection allows you to “Keep Learning Without Leaving” through the Concurrent Enrollment Program offered locally in Maricopa County. If you prefer to head up north to NAU’s Mountain Campus in Flagstaff, Arizona, you can apply to the university’s RN to BSN option after earning your AAS in Maricopa, or the BSN program after completing nursing prerequisites and general education requirements toward an Associate in Arts degree. The Connect2NAU joint admission program allows you to earn a merit scholarship of up to $2000 and gain access to NAU student resources and advisement while you attend your community college. To apply for Connect2NAU and learn more about NAU’s transfer options for nursing students, meet with an NAU Transition Coordinator at your community college. Current contact information is listed at maricopa.edu/connection. If you want to transfer to the University of Arizona, statewide transfer policies are in place to allow you to seamlessly transition from your community college to the university and be right on track to earning a BSN. Degree requirements are listed with Maricopa transfer equivalencies at degreesearch.arizona.edu and information for prospective students, including information sessions, is online at nursing.arizona.edu. In addition, UA’s Transfer Student Center (transfer.arizona.edu/) offers advisement and academic and social activities specifically designed to support transfer students.
