This is an exciting time for Hafod, we’ve recently celebrated our 50th anniversary and are continuing on our change journey to integrate our core services. We began in 1968 as Hafod Housing Association and in the early days had 300 properties in Cardiff, seven colleagues and a turnover of £100,000. Today, we work across nine local authority areas in Wales and help over 16,000 people each year.

Hafod is one of the leading providers of housing, care and support in South Wales. We employ over 1,300 colleagues and have a turnover in excess of £55 million. Over the last 12 months we have embarked upon an organisational change programme to ensure we are ready to meet the challenges facing our communities both now and in the future.

Our change journey is transforming how we work and will enable us to make lives better for more people. It will help us achieve our vision to integrate our housing, support and care services and improve the quality of life and well-being of our customers and communities.

We are delighted that you are considering joining our team and hope that this pack will give you an insight into what you can expect as our Nursing Home Manager with our Brocastle Manor Care Home.

Welcome

Dear applicant,

Thank you for your interest in joining our Brocastle Manor Care Home.

We are proud of the care we provide in our Brocastle Manor Care Home and are searching for an experienced and dedicated manager with the clinical and people management skills that our colleagues and residents deserve.

Brocastle was the first of our homes to implement our Nursing Care Assistant programme. By creating the programme we have provided a career pathway for care colleagues where other opportunities may not have been available. Our Nursing Care Assistants will help us ensure the provision of the highest quality and continuity of care and support, releasing our nurses to spend more time with our residents. Our Nursing Care Assistants can assume responsibility for delegated nursing tasks under the supervision of the nurse in charge.

Inside this recruitment pack you will find an overview of Our Strategic Plan 2019-2024. This sets out clearly how we will do more of what we do well and ensure everything we do will help us care for the future.

Our priorities reflect the things we believe Hafod must work towards in the next five years. We are committed to investing in our people and will do this by improving terms and conditions and providing our colleagues with benefits that enhance their work and personal lives.

By investing in Care we will maintain our excellent compliance and quality ratings across all our services, incorporating new practices, methods and technologies. We will work with our key stakeholders to understand future requirements and develop sustainable services to meet rising demand and improve people’s experience of care.

To support our ambition, we offer development and training opportunities for our colleagues at every stage of their career. Through our academi we offer high quality and stimulating development opportunities, allowing colleagues to develop skills in line with their ambitions and ensuring Hafod is recognised for its excellence in work-based learning.

If you feel you have the skills, experience and ambition to lead our Brocastle Manor Care Home, we look forward to receiving your application.

Yours sincerely,

Margaret Harris

Testimonials

Family testimonials

“I can only praise the staff at Brocastle for the way they have looked after my wife. When she first went to Brocastle the family and I feared that she would never walk again, but with the care she was given she was on her feet and walking in 3 or 4 weeks. She is now happy and well looked after which takes a lot of pressure off all the family. Well done Brocastle!”

“My husband has been in Brocastle and benefits from the care that I was struggling to give him when he was at home. Caring for someone with dementia 24/7 on your own is far from easy. I feel that I can trust the staff to give my husband the care he deserves.”

“My father has a lot more socialisation and freedom within Brocastle. I am a lot more relaxed knowing that he is safe and cared for 24 hours a day. Especially as I live abroad six months of the year.”

“Everybody is always friendly and helpful and professional, with a warm and caring approach to the people living in Brocastle.”

“The difference Brocastle has made for us is peace of mind, knowing that my husband is in good hands. When my husband went into Brocastle he was very poorly. In three months, we have seen a vast improvement in all ways.”

“We live some distance away but we are confident that Mum is well cared for.”
