• A serious pediatric faculty and nursing shortage poses a threat to the access and quality of care for children and their families.

• There is an increasing prevalence of chronic childhood health conditions such as ADHD, asthma, diabetes, and obesity.

• Approximately 20 percent of children in the United States have chronic conditions—physical, developmental, behavioral, or emotional—that require ongoing care and services in home, school, primary care, and specialty care settings.
