The Superior GeneralHis November activities began with a trip to CubaThe annual meeting of AMMs International Council was held in Cuba. Its members met in the ProvinciaHouse of the Daughters of Charity on the 3 rd and 4th. Present were: Sister Carolina Flores from Mexico

Executive Secretary of AMM International; Mrs. Olimpia Ruano from Portugal, AMM Councillor; and JulioAdolfo Castellanos from Guatemala, AMM Councillor. Also present was Sister Iliana Suarez, GeneraCouncillor of the Daughters of Charity. At this meeting the journey of the Association was evaluated; reports on the countries and regions were given; and the tasks proposed for each year, as well as the newones, were reviewed. An interesting detail is the growth that the Association is experiencing in the worldA clear example of this is Slovakia, which has scarcely begun and already has more than a hundred constituted groups. Another important aspect is that they have started organizing the first General Assembly, which is scheduled for 2014, from 17-24 November in Rome. The principal aim will be to promotthe participation and communion of every member of the Association. The Council meeting ended on th4th with the Eucharist in the Parish of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, accompanied by various groups

    of the Association.

The next Council meeting will be in one year in PanamaCity. AMMs website offers a variety of formation materialshat can be very useful for that purpose. Among these are

some catechetical presentations for the Year of Faith de-veloped by Juan Bautista Iborra, Subdirector General ofAMM International. We invite you to visit it:

He also had a meeting with the Vincentian Family in the Parish of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medawhere different members took part. It is necessary to highlight too the participation of two groups

young women of the parish: one called Prophets and the other called Disciples. They are young peopwho want to live out the Vincentian charism in a more local way, within the limits of their parish, as part its pastoral work with youth. The meeting concluded with the Eucharist.

In another moment he met with the majority of thDaughters of Charity when, among other things, the topics of the Synod of Bishops, the Year of Faith, bespecially reconfiguration, were addressed. The latter is well on its way in order to make a single proince from Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti.

Some excerpts from the interventions of the confreres at the SynodMonsignor Markos Ghebremedhin, C.M. The Church needs to reaffirm the irreplaceble role of catechists in the Church, equipping them with resources in order that they beffective ministers of the New Evangelization. It must offer them the resources necessaso that they can support their families and, also, understand their role within the Church aa vocation. In this great moment of renewal in the proclamation and transmission of th

faith, a decision of this type would be of great support and help in the new evangelization to which thChurch is calling us.

Monsignor Cristoforo Palmieri, C.M. The harvest is not small and some of it is alread

ready, but to harvest it, we lack diligent and educated workers, capable of sacrifice, veclose to the people, and only through love and with love, be they local or a gift from othesister churches.

Monsignor Berhaneyesus Demerew Souraphiel, C.M. The lay ministers, thereformust not be conceived as an accessory or as some optional activities to lighten the woof the priest in the Small Christian Communities. They are an integral part of their life angrowth, and when the ministers diminish, the whole life of the community diminishes. Eperience has shown us sufficiently that religious associations centered only on prayer andevotion can turn into a type of exclusive spiritual club for holy members more faithful tthe meticulous details prescribed in the script written by its founder than to the demand

    of Jesus in the Gospel.

Emmanuel Typamm, C.M. Consecrated persons in Africa and Madagascar are madaware and want to bring awareness to other apostolic agents (laymen, priests, bishopsthat reconciliation, justice, and peace, or, in other words, the justice and peace that leato reconciliation require dying, losing ones life, for the truth of the Gospel.

    G. Gregory Gay, Superior General of the C.M. We evangelize by entering into thworld of the poor, and by growing in the virtues of humility, simplicity, charity, and justice. This is at the heart of our Vincentian heritage. The preferential option for the pois fundamental for new evangelization. In the experience of community, we make visble and credible the person of Jesus, promoting a civilization of love. In living out thesvirtues, we draw nearer to God, each other, and the poor, our lords and masters.
