DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD Nuno Battaglia has been a partner with Public Development Partners since 2008, where he is a master developer special- izing in turnkey solutions for uniquely complex projects both in the public and private sectors. Their projects cover a broad spectrum of size and scope, including infrastructure, justice, city center revitalizations, hospitality, retail, office, industrial, and planned communities. Previously, Battaglia founded HealthEquity, a leading consumer-driven healthcare company, and the largest non-bank trustee of health savings accounts (HSAs) in U.S. (2002–07). From 1997–2002, he was a managing director with Leucadia National Corpora- tion, where he worked on acquisitions, divestitures, and management of portfolio assets in North America, Europe, Russia, SE Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Battaglia re- ceived a BA cum laude in international relations (1991) and an MBA as both a Hawes and a Cook International Scholar from Brigham Young University (1997). Growing up in Lagos, Portugal, his family joined the Church when he was thirteen. Battaglia served in the Portugal Lisbon Mission and completed two years of Portuguese military service be- fore coming to the U.S., where he met and married his wife Carene.
