Beach Clean-up Drive

Time: 08:00 am to 10:00 am

SAKEC ACM Student Chapter along with “Change Is Us” organized a beach clean-up drive. The

event was conducted on 26th January 2020 on the auspicious 71st Republic Day of our country. The event

was conducted in the morning from 08:00 am to 10:00 am.

SAKEC ACM Student Chapter members along with non-members reached the venue by 07:30

am. By 07:45 am members of “Change Is Us” briefed us about the the procedure and precautions that is

to be taken care of while collecting waste from the beach. There were a total of 19 participants who had

joined for the event. We were guided by the experienced volunteers of the foundation who have been

doing this for the past many weeks.

After the briefing we all sang our national anthem. This didn't just show our respect to our

nation but also filled each and everyone present there with pride and energy to start our work. All the

volunteers were provided with gloves and masks to carry out the task. Teams were made and they were

given tools and other acceceries needed to clean. Every volunteer pushed their limits and went a step

ahead to complete the task. All the volunteers were so much involved that no one realized when 2 hours

had passed. All were called back and a small thanksgiving was held. Even after such tiring physical tasks

all the volunteers were still energized and had a smile on their faces.

We all left the venue with a sense of satisfaction and a promise that we made to ourselves that

this clean-up won't just stop and we will continue to do this duty in our daily lifes.

Posari visit 2019

SAKEC Computer Engineering Department’s Staff and students visited Zilla Parishad School in a small village in the

Raigad district on 23 rd October 2019 and spent their day fruitfully with the school children. It is a small initiative to

bring about a progressive difference to the society that each one of us is a part of. The happiness on the faces of little

ones was visible as they welcomed us with smiles. Excitement ensued when the goodies were distributed to these

kids. Our SAKEC students interacted with the children of the school. There was marked happiness among all the staff

and students and the feeling of joy was apparent all around. It was indeed a humbling and memorable experience to

hear these kids out and spend time with them.

Bal Anand Ashram Visit

As it is rightly said, “Every Child you encounter is a divine appointment”, so was the feeling of staff and students on

their visit to Balanand Ashram. Faculties and students of Computer Department, Shah and Anchor Kutchhi Engineering

College visited Balanand Ashram on 2nd September 2017 and 7th October 2017. I/C Head of Department Prof. Uday

Bhave, Prof. Amol Dhumal, Prof. Sonali Bhutad, Prof. Rupali Kale, Prof. Deepa Ekhande and Prof. Sonal Raut along with

the students voluntarily visited the ashram for social cause and interacted with the children.

The activities began with distributing snacks to the children. Later on, staff and students of SAKEC taught

various crafting skills to the children which were enthusiastically enjoyed by them. Other activities included storytelling

and playing games. The children also dance on their favorite songs, recited poems and watched animated movies

shown by SAKEC students. All the children actively participated in each and every event conducted for them and

enjoyed it.

The visit was indeed memorable for all the staff members and students as they were very delighted to see the

smiling faces of children.

Diwali is all about spreading happiness. It is the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over

evil and hope over despair. And in the spirit of this joyous festival, the Computer Department of SAKEC decided to

spread some happiness by taking up a small initiative with an aim to bring about progressive difference to the

community that each one of us is a part of. Few of the faculty members of the Computer Department along with some

enthusiastic students decided to spread the festive cheer by driving out to Zilla Parishad School in Posari, a small village

in the Raigad district and spend their day with the school students. The joy we witnessed on their little faces as they

welcomed us with smiles were wonderful. Excitement ensued when the cake was cut and goodies were distributed to

these kids. Enthusiasm among our volunteers as they interacted with the students of the school was also palpable.

SAKEC-ACM student Chapter of Shah And Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College had

organized social event Helping hand to orphanage who are underprivileged , under-nutrition

and also HIV positive children at Desire Society, Vashi. Though it is first social event held

under SAKEC ACM Student Chapter guided by Ms. Swati Nadkarni, Ms. Nilakshi Jain, Ms.

Smita Bansode, Mr. Vaibhav Vasani, Mr. Dhwaniket Kamble and Mr. Santosh Rathod.

SAKEC-ACM student Chapter Collected contribution from the student members and staff

members. They voluntarily contributed Rs 11,212.

All gathered at Desire Society, Vashi at 11.30 am. The event was organized by 12 volunteers

and guided by 06 staff members. All played games with 20 innocent children followed by

serving them lunch sponsored by SAKEC-ACM. After lunch, All entertained them with

singing and dance performances by volunteer and staff. We donated medicines worth Rs 6,100

and also gave them chocolate and ice-cream and the rest of the amount was donated in cash.

becomes WE - together to build a strong Nation".

ISRO Telemetry Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC), Bengaluru, is entrusted with the major

responsibility to provide tracking support for all the satellite and launch vehicle Missions of ISRO.

The major objectives of the Centre are to carry out mission operations of all operational remote

sensing and scientific satellites and provide them Telemetry, Tracking and Command (TTC) services

from launch vehicle lift-off till injection of satellite into orbit, also estimate its preliminary orbit in

space and hardware and software developmental activities that enhance the capabilities of ISTRAC

for providing flawless TTC and Mission Operations service. We reached the campus by 11:00 AM

and had a break. We logged into the campus after the security check at 11:30 AM. We were

accompanied by MR. B Sankar Madaswamy, scientist/Engineer-SF, Manager, HRD, ISTRAC,

Bengaluru. We first assembled in the seminar hall where we got a brief introduction about the

ISTRAC and its operations.

The MR. B Sankar Madaswamy gave a brief about the campus. It has

ISTRAC is the tracking center for Indian satellites and launch vehicles. Presently, they are tracking 21

on-orbit satellites, which includes ocean sat, scatter meter, Astro sat for stellar information and mega

atomic satellite for cloud information. ISTRAC has four network stations in Bangalore. Currently,

they are also tracking the mars mission satellite. Chandrayana-2. with D18 and D32 antennas, is also

being tracked, and it is visible for 12 hours. After gathering all this information, we went to the

mission control room, where the coordination with all the spacecraft and satellites is carried out. Sir,

also explained MARS and CHANDRAYAN-1 orbiter model to us in greater detail, we also come to

know that control room is active during the launching season, during this period all scientist busy with

planning, critical decisions being carried out and this process may take 40 days. This was happens

during Mars orbiter Mission (MoM). Later, we went to mission operations complex - 1 (MOX-1),

where the parallel scheduling of satellites is done during launch phase. Question and answer sessions

were introduced at the last, where every enthusiast mind was putting their doubt in session. Later we

had a group photograph in front of the gate and our ISTRAC visit came to an end.

organized social event to help the children of Maranatha Harvest Mission Orphanage who are

underprivileged children at Maranatha harvest mission orphanage society , Chembur. It is first

social event held under SAKEC ACM-W Student Chapter guided by Ms. Swati Nadkarni, Ms.

Smita Bansode, Ms. Bhakti Sonawane, Ms. Archana Chaugule, Ms. Shwetambri Pawar, Mr.

The Industrial Visit to Airport Authority of India, Andheri was Coordinated by Mr. Rohan Borgalli and Mr. Ashish Tank, Assistant Professor, Electronics & Telecommunication Engg. Dept. and Total 46 students from college were attended same.

ON 3rd Aug. 2018, as per the plan we all were gathered in front of the main gate of Airport Authority of India, Andheri at 9.00 AM. we were provided snacks for Breakfast by the coordinators. After issuing gate pass, we entered and gathered in Seminar Room of Air Traffic Services. After some time we met our Industrial Visit guide Mr. Ajit Joshi Sir & Mr. Ravindra Keshkar Sir.

Air Traffic Services(ATS) Complex

We first visited the Air Traffic Services Complex where we were shown some ATC documentaries which gave us a very good idea about the internal process of ATC. We came to know that, Mumbai Airport is the most busiest single runway airport in the world. All the domestic and international flights use only one runway. Nearly 1000 flights take off and land each day. The coordinator at ATS gave us a brief information about HF and VHF.

They decided to divide us into three groups, Batch A, B and C.

Batch A is move on with Student co-ordinator Vinit Veera , Batch A is with co-ordinator Mr. Rohan Sir whereas Batch C Is move with co-ordinator Mr Ashish Sir From here the main Industrial Visit started. We then visited to various units of ATS

Ground control Ground control (sometimes known as ground movement control) is responsible for the airport "movement" areas, as well as areas not released to the airlines or other users. This generally includes all taxiways, inactive runways, holding areas, and some transitional aprons or intersections where aircraft arrive, having vacated the runway or departure gate. Tower

Air control or local control Air control (known to pilots as "tower" or "tower control") is responsible for the active runway surfaces. Air control clears aircraft for takeoff or landing, ensuring that prescribed runway separation will exist at all times. If the air controller detects any unsafe conditions, a landing aircraft may be instructed to "go-around" and be re-sequenced into the landing pattern. This re-sequencing will depend on the type of flight and may be handled by the air controller, approach or terminal area controller. We were taken to the tower from where we had a clear view of the runway and also they told us the minimum time required between the land off and the departure of the aircrafts, also that the sensor passes the signal(by showing the colors) whether the landing of the aircraft is appropriate with respect to the ground.

Briefing Office Here, the operators have the information of where the aircraft is and if any error occurs during flying, the operators work on it. They then showed us the map of Mumbai FIR, the restricted areas from the same and also told us that they need to take instant decisions and also that they need to overcome the issues whether it's unauthorized aircraft flying in the region or the Hijack. They gave us information about the RTS scheme launched by the government wherein 35% of the seats where sanctioned by the government.

OCC (Operations Control) We then visited to the OCC where controllers have the exact location of where the aircraft is flying. They have their own system wherein all the details of the flight are mentioned. The primary responsibility of clearance delivery is to ensure that the aircraft have the correct aerodrome information, such as weather and airport conditions, the correct route after departure and time restrictions relating to that flight. They then told us about the CPDL(Control-Pilot Data Link)which is used to communicate with the aircraft via messages. They had these strip holders which is used to track a flight and these strips where of different colors indicating whether it is west bound or east bound aircraft.

Approach and terminal control Terminal controllers are responsible for providing all ATC services within their airspace. Traffic flow is broadly divided into departures, arrivals, and overflights. As aircraft move in and out of the terminal airspace, they are handed off to the next appropriate control facility (a control tower, an en-route control facility, or a bordering terminal or approach control). Terminal control is responsible for ensuring that aircraft are at an appropriate altitude when they are handed off, and that aircraft arrive at a suitable rate for landing.

Industrial visit to “BSNL Satellite Earth Station” at Yeur, Thane

Department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering in association with IEEE SAKEC have organized an Industrial visit to “BSNL Satellite Earth Station” at Yeur, Thane on 20th March, 2019. This is the only satellite earth station in Mumbai region. Industrial visit started with first session which began at 10:30 am with the introduction of basics of communication principles and its current fields of application. Doubts of students were solved efficiently ensuring that they get the basic insights clear. After first session second session started which was concentrated more on practical in which students how satellites communicate with earth stations and other satellite, communication between earth stations and other organizations, transmission and modulation of signals, communication in adverse climate conditions etc. Here by we ended with second session at 2:30 pm.

IndustrialVisit to Regional Meterological Centre (RMC), Colaba Scheduled on 14th March 2018.

The Industrial Visit to RMC, Colaba was co-ordinatedby Prof.MamtaTikaria and Prof. Gauri Deshpande, Assistant Professor, Electronics & Telecommunication Engg. Dept. and Total 20 students from college were attended same.

On 14thMarch. 2018, as per the plan we all were gathered in front of the main gate of RMC Centre at 10.30 AM. Weissued gate pass,then we entered and gathered in Foyer of RMC. After some time, we met our Industrial Visit guide Mr. Yashwant Satam Sir. They conductedsessions.

Session 1 -

The sections were explained by Mr. Yashwant Satam Sir which includes following.

Doppler Weather Radar Station In this Room, only 1-2 people were controlling all the necessary radar and

weather conditionequipments. They introduced us to Radar, its effective range and parameters. And also its

working and its product to view weather conditions.

Session 2–

Surface Observatory System Here they introduced us air comparison system, data comparison system, rain guage, rainfall measurement w.r.t time system,Evaporisation system for measurement(Evaporisation well)

Session 3-

Regional Weather Forecasting Centre Here they explained us about grouping done for the coverage area of this

station. They enlighten us about the wind direction and the appearance of cyclone due to it and how they predict.

An industrial Visit to The All India Radio, Mumbai was organized by IETE SAKEC in collaboration with the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering

"Yeh Aakashvani hai", this sentence has left us in utmost fascination and awe since our Childhood days. The All India Radio has been instrumental in India's tremendous growth in Radio Communications. AIR has made long distance broadcasting sound easy and provides a pan India platforand Talks. Due to such esteemed presence and stature that AIR has, we were bound to tap this Facility for our very first Industrial Visit. The facility is located in Malad, is spread across acres, with antennas and transmission lines,ultimate intricacy and expertise. Walking almost 3kms from the main gates, on a pavement, amidst heavy foliage, the scenery was both picturesque and wild. As we approached the main area, the antennas and the wires started to reveal themselves anbe exciting and a great learning experience. Mr. G.P Sahoo, Chief Engineer, AIR, guided us through the visit where we visited 3 Transmission Systems, all of which were different in functionality, specifications and type of communication offered. The first and the foremost visit was to the most advanced Transmission System, in India, Prasaar Bharti. Mr. Ravi Rastogi guided us through this part where he showed us the future of Radio Communications in India. Prasaar Bharati had two main units called Samvadita & Asmita, Also referred to as Mumbai A and Mumbai B. They operate over different channels, and are switched according to the programmes available. Mumbai A operated at 565 Hz and 575 Hz while Mumthem used Amplitude Modulation as Modulation Technique. The systems were very Advanced with a much better GUI and ultimate ease of use. They made use of PCBs, instead of bigger Vacuum Tubes/Valves. They had touch screen controls and displayed a great deal of information about the antennas and their power. The Transmission Unit was advanced and used a Latest Technology called DRM, Digital Radio Mondiale. This Tech is Canadian and AIR uses it to digitize AM commutask using simple FDM. These transmitters used COFDM for propagation, which allows them to deliver data at very high speeds and synchronize everything so that it's being presented at the same time, everywhere in India. 100kW Carrier Power was being generated by Power Amplifiers and Transistors ICs and transferred via Thick Copper rods, to nullify the attenuation. Industrial Visit to Cettm Mtnl, Powai Scheduled on 24th January 2018.

The Industrial Visit to Cettm Mtnl, Powai was co-ordinated by Prof. Rohan Borgalli and Prof. Ashish Tank, Assistant Professor, Electronics & Telecommunication Engg. Dept. and Total 58 students from college were attended same.

On 24th Jan. 2018, as per the plan we all were gathered in front of the main gate of mtnl at 9.30 AM. We were provided with breakfast by the co-ordinators. After issuing gate pass, we entered and gathered in Foyer of Cettm Mtnl.

After some time Introductory session was conducted by Mr. Ravindra Kumar Sir. In that they give us overview about CETTM MTNL their training and Technology services.

Then they decided to conduct four sessions in two halves. As we were already divided into two groups, Batch A & Batch B.

Batch A was move on with Student co-ordinator Anuj Jain, Teaching staff Prof. Rohan Borgalli Sir and our guide for first session Mr. Dinesh Baghelkar Sir whereas Batch B was moved with co-ordinator Snehal Shimpi, Teaching Staff Prof. Ashish Tank Sir, & Guide Mr. S. K. Mishra Sir. From here the main Industrial Visit started.

switching and exchange equipments. The session was started with basic block diagram of switching unit consisting sub-units such as control, trunk, sync, maintenance, etc.

Further they introduced us to a switching unit and working of it was explain, also parameters such as access card, coupler card, tag block, etc was shown and its concept in working.

Transmission Technology

Later, Mr. Mohan Babu Sir introduced us to a concept of technology such as

PDH and SDH. E1 procedure in call management was explained. Since transmission was to be done so we were brief on cables such as copper and optical fiber and technology used while transmission (ADSL) in their unit. The splicing concept was taught for optical fiber ends joint alignment unit and detailed information on E1 procedure used in current transmission unit for transfer of data.

Around 1.40pm, we all were tired. It’s time for the Lunch. We all did our

Lunch in canteen till 2:30 pm we again get gathered in foyer. The second session on the edge to start. Our curiosity is increasing to know that what will be next part.

Afternoon Session -

Mobile Technology While Mr. S. K. Mishra Sir, brief us on mobile technology such as GSM (2G),

UMTS (3G) and LTE (4G) on the basis of wireless transmission. Further he introduced us to Technology and Access types used in different wireless evolution. Further working of mobile unit in GSM technology working on frequency range of 900 MHz and 1800 MHz with the help of BTS. Comparison of 2G and 3G BTS with concept and working of dipole antenna and it’s relation with phase (tilt) was explained.

Broadband Technology and Services

It was further continued by Mrs. Kumud Sagar madam, who covered the broadband network architecture and the segregation of voice and data using DSLAM. Procedure of IP address allocation for call establishment and protocols such as DNS, etc was detailed.

Lastly, Rohan sir felicitated To Mr. Dinesh Baghelkar Sir and Mr. Mohan Babu and Ashish Sir Felicitated to Mr. S. K. Mishra Sir and Mrs. Kumud Sagar Madam. It's time to say good bye to all. It was one of the great experiences of my life. It will definitely get added in my memorable diary.

A REPORT

On

Industrial Visit to Doordarshan Kendra, Worli Scheduled on 25th September 2017.

The Industrial Visit to Doordarshan Kendra, Worli was Coordinated by Mr. Rohan Borgalli and Mr. Ashish Tank, Assistant Professor, Electronics & Telecommunication Engg. Dept. and Total 44 students from college were attended same.

ON 25th Sept. 2017, as per the plan we all were gathered in front of the main gate of kendra at 9.30 AM. we were provided a scratch pad with pen for writing any information about industrial visit. by the coordinators. After issuing gate pass, we entered and gathered in Foyer of Doordarshan kendra. After some time we met our Industrial Visit guide Mr. Dastageet Sir & Mr. Mahajan Sir. They decided that two session will going to be conduct by them. As we already divided into two groups, Batch A & Batch B.

Batch A is move on with Student co-ordinator Himanshu , Teaching staff Mr. Rohan Sir and our guide Mr. Mahajan Sir whereas Batch B Is move with co-ordinator Vimit Veera, Teaching Staff Mr Ashish Sir, & Guide Mr. Dastageet Sir. From here the main Industrial Visit started.

Session 1 - Studio Section This section was explained by Mr. Dastageet Sir which includes following points

Control Room In control Room, only 6-7 people were controlling all the necessary audio and video parameters and their respective timing. They will given a command on which time audio and video get mix up. The command such as Audio VTR1 SOUND UP, VTR2 SOUND LOW etc. all the command were given by their telephonic Line.

Studio Room C1

Initially we were shocked to see that what we are seeing in TV and what actually the set up for the same its totally different. Studio room basically consist lots of Halogen light, high definition cameras (1080p).condenser mic, etc. Behind the newsreader the only green flex is there and graphics animation were created by VFX technology. From there we come to know the cameras which is focused on newsreader is different then the cameras focus on guest or any other person. it is just because news reader has to read news which exist on screen of cameras through refection of hardcopy.

Studio Room A1 A1 studio is same as that of C1. but here set-up is different. it has huge dice which may be used for serial shooting. we took a group photos along with guide and teaching staff.

News feed Room The written text, disclaimer, etc which is moving live on the screen is can be did by this room only. All the data's are accumulated over here first then it is passed for the reading. Our curiosity is increasing to know that what will be next part .

VTR Room In this Room all the data, pictures ,advertise ,videos, etc are stored used analog cassettes, blue rays etc. mostly they use VTR. The person plays different VTR i,e VTR1 VTR2 etc. during advertise. meanwhile they will wait for the command .

Master Switching Room (MSR) It is final point before a signal is transmitted on air for terrestrial televisions or cablecast. In the Room. we shows different videos monitors, video tape machine and playback of television program. If the recorded file desire to be transmit, then the MSR radiated signals after taking the data from VTR. Around 1.40pm,we all were tired. it's time for the Lunch. we all did our Lunch in canteen Till 3pm we again get gathered in foyer. the second session on the edge to start.NOW, BATCH A move towards the studio session and BATCH B were move towards transmitting session.

Session 2 - Transmitter Section This section was explained by Mr. Mahajan Sir which includes following points:

It started with relevant information about CH6 & CH12 and its frequencies.

Modulation Compartment In Modulation compartment. where different panels for modulation and power combination(filtering purpose). we come to know the power ratios of audio to video=1/10. They used FM for Audio & AM for video. This all were transmitted through terrestrial antenna..we get the ideas of how to determine the feeder and waveguide .

Earth Stations Here we get some ideas of how satellite communication takes place. on terrace different parabolic antennas and terrestrial antennas are set up. there is one antenna whose height is 1000feet long and its range is approx 60km.this antenna can be seen from any part of Mumbai.
