THE PRESIDENT'S CORNER

By the t ime you read this. our Annual Meet ing wi l l be history. However, the events preceding the meet ing are th is month's sub-ject.

The off icers and members of the Board of Trustees that werejust e lected by you, the membership, were in large part nomi-nated af ter a painstaking search by the Nominat ing Commit tee. What is distressing is the fact that their search for members wi l l lngto serve, part icular ly as President, was very f rustrat ing. The re-ports given me by the committee were that everyone, except afew, that were approached had a "good" reason for refusing.

This organizat ion, as in any other organizat ion, is a col lect ionof indiv iduals jo ined together bound by a common interest .Nothing gets accompl ished unless those very same indiv idualscontr ibute t ime and ef f or t in at tempt ing to achieve benef i ts f orthe common good. One cannot partake of the many benef i tsand contr ibute l i t t le or nothing. In these circumstances the or-ganizat ion is doomed to fa i lure unless i t has a few dedicated in-div iduals who contr ibute far more than thev receive in benef i ts.
