Artificial antistatic fibers due to their low cost as well as providing desirable properties based on theirconstitutive components, have attracted considerable interests. In the present study, bicomponent antistaticfibers with various cross-sectional configurations (i.e. core/sheath and segmented-pie structures) wereproduced using the mixture of carbon black/dispersing agent/PBT and polyethylene terephthalate.

Source: Progress in Organic Coatings,Volume 97 Author(s): Dimitra Aslanidou, Ioannis Karapanagiotis, CostasPanayiotou The fabrication of protective coatings on silk with specialproperties is presented. A water soluble siloxane emulsion enriched withsilica nanoparticles (7nm) is sprayed on silk, without the use of any organicsolvent. By adjusting the nanoparticle concentration, treated silk obtains (i)superhydrophobic and superoleophobic properties, as evidenced by thehigh static contact angles of water and oil droplets (>150°) and (ii) waterand oil repellent properties, as supported by the corresponding low tiltcontact angles (<7°).

Peled The objective of this work wasto modify the microstructure of carbon fabrics with mineral or organic fillersabsorbed between the filaments of the fabric strands in order to optimizethe composite tensile properties. The obtained mechanical properties of allcomposites with fillers were superior to those of the reference composite.In mineral fillers, the improvement in mechanical properties was attributedlargely to an increased sleeve/core ratio, resulting mainly from apozzolanic reaction between filler (silica) and calcium hydroxide of thecement paste products.

Due to the significant and harmful effect of the global warming on our communities, health, and climate, theusage of thermal insulation material in building is must to decrease the energy consumption and to improveenergy efficiency. On the other hand, the utilization of waste and biomass resources for developing new bio-based composite materials is attracting much attention for the environmental and socioeconomics. Therefore,in this study, thermal insulation bio-based composite panels from Tetra Pak® waste and wool fiber waste withdifferent ratios were manufactured.

Recubrimiento de nano partículas de zinc óxido sobre tela depoliéster funcionalizada a través de tratamiento alkaliPublicada el 30/06/2016

In recent years, zinc oxide nano particles coating on textiles such as polyester is considered because of UVblocking and self-cleaning properties. Alkaline hydrolysis of polyester is a method in textile industry for surfacetreatment in large scale to enhance wettability. In the present work, polyester fabric was treated with sodiumhydroxide, then was coated with ZnO nano particles, and also polyester fabric was treated with sodiumhydroxide and ZnO nano particles at the same time. The bending length, water adsorption time, bactericidalproperties, atomic absorption spectroscopy, and self-cleaning effect were measured according to the standardmethods.

Continuous measurement of cardio-respiratory signals offers various kinds of information valuable for thediagnosis of disease and management of the disease process. The article reports the development of thePiezofilm yarn sensor for healthcare applications, and investigates its performance by monitoring cardio-respiratory signals of human body over an extended period of time. Piezofilm yarn sensor was developed byembedding the thin PVDF strips within the textile yarn.
