Hazard Specific Detection Options

Power generating plants have many different types and

levels of hazards. These hazards mandate the best

most cost effective solution for the level of detection

required. Your facility’s unique hazards require unique

products, not standard smoke detectors. Air Sampling

Smoke Detection (ASSD) offers advantages for your

application including in cabinent, high ceilings, harsh

envirionments, high/low temperatures, and dusty areas.

Install the ProX4’s in High Fire Risk rooms and/or cabinets.

Upon alarm activation, simply locate the room or row of

cabinets in alarm by looking at the easy to read indicators or

software. Then grab the ProLocator portable fire detector

and slowly walk through the room or hold the sample probe

over each cabinet in the alarm zone to determine where in

the room or which cabinet is in alarm. Then take corrective

actions.

Typical ProSeries ASSD System:

ASSD: Air Sampling Smoke Detection, as illustrated

below, uses a sample pipe network which continuously

draws air samples from a hazard back to a high

sensitivity early warning detector. The ProX4 is the

only industrial ASSD, and uses ultra sensitive CCD

technology which provides the earliest warning of a fire

possible. This is done by detecting the first signs of a

fire in the incipient stage, when combustion particles

from overheating are produced before any smoke,

flames, or heat. This is critical in order to detect

overheating electrical cables in power generating

plants. CCD technology only detects combustion

making the ProX4 immune to false alarms from things

such as dirt, dust, humidity, and gases which plague

other types of detectors.

The ProX4 is an engineered detection solution which

provides precise system design. The ProX4 may also

be programmed for one, two, three or four zones and

can detect to ceiling heights up to 115 feet in areas as

large as 43,200 square feet. This engineered style

system, which is unique to the ProX4, can provide

equal sensitivity from each sample point no matter how

large the area. Airflow calculation software ensures

that hole sensitivity, flow, and balance are all

maximized to provide peak system performance.

Air samples drawn into a ProSeries detector are passed through a CCD chamber for analysis. The CCD chamber amplifies the invisible .0025µm particles released during the overheating stage of a fire, prior to any smoke. These amplified particulate are directly proportional to the level of the fire event, and are detected via microscopic obscuration using a high output diode.

Other foreign airborne objects such as dirt, dust and pollutants are inherently too large and in too few quantity to be detected. These foreign objects do not affect the ability of the CCD to identify the much smaller combustion particles. This in turn eliminates false alarms associated with other detection methods which use other technologies.

PORTABLE ASPIRATING FIRE DETECTION The ProLocator is the industry’s first handheld portable aspirating fire detector which can lead you to the source that is

causing an early warning alarm “before smoke”. The ProLocator uses the same advanced CCD technology which detects

combustion and this technology is immune to dirt, dust and will not false alarm. The Prolocator will operate for up to two full

hours on a single charge.

The hard shell, foam lined case is ideal for protecting and storing the ProLocator and its accessories when not in use.

EASY TO USE IN NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS Using the ProLocator is simple, slowly walk through the area in alarm and narrow down where the signal is the strongest.
