    If I wanted America to fail video invokes Paul Harveys prophetic essay

    April 28th, 2012

    A new video from Free Market America highlights the attempts by some to use energy to bringfundamental change to the United States. By destroying free markets and capitalism, that which made

    our nation great, one could certainly bring a nation to its knees and as we see what is happening today,

    you have to wonder if the video just might be right.

    The video is loosely based on Paul Harveys essay, If I were the devilwhich was originally published in

    1964. In 1965 he read a slightly modified version on his radio show and then updated it in 1996 forprint. All three versions are so prophetic it is chilling to read and listen to, much like the new video.

    You can watch and read the old and the new below. Take the time to think about them.http://youtu.be/CZ-4gnNz0vc

    Paul Harvey, If I Were the Devil (1964)

    I would gain control of the most powerful nation in the world;

    I would delude their minds into thinking that they had come from mans effort, instead of Gods blessings;

    I would promote an attitude of loving things and using people, instead of the other way around;

    I would dupe entire states into relying on gambling for their state revenue;

    I would convince people that character is not an issue when it comes to leadership;

    I would make it legal to take the life of unborn babies;

    I would make it socially acceptable to take ones own life, and invent machines to make it convenient;

    I would cheapen human life as much as possible so that the life of animals are valued more than humanbeings;

    I would take God out of the schools, where even the mention of His name was grounds for a lawsuit;

    I would come up with drugs that sedate the mind and target the young, and I would get sports heroes toadvertise them;

    I would get control of the media, so that every night I could pollute the mind of every family member formy agenda;

    I would attack the family, the backbone of any nation.

    I would make divorce acceptable and easy, even fashionable. If the family crumbles, so does the nation;

    I would compel people to express their most depraved fantasies on canvas and movie screens, and I

    would call it art;

    I would convince the world that people are born homosexuals, and that their lifestyles should be acceptedand marveled;

    I would convince the people that right and wrong are determined by a few who call themselves authoritiesand refer to their agenda as politically correct;

    I would persuade people that the church is irrelevant and out of date, and the Bible is for the naive;

    I would dull the minds of Christians, and make them believe that prayer is not important, and thatfaithfulness and obedience are optional;

    I guess I would leave things pretty much the way they are.

    Paul Harvey, If I Were the Devil (1996)

    If I were the Prince of Darkness I would want to engulf the whole earth in darkness.

    Id have a third of its real estate and four-fifths of its population, but I would not be happy until I hadseized the ripest apple on the tree.

    So I should set about however necessary, to take over the United States.

    I would begin with a campaign of whispers.

    With the wisdom of a serpent, I would whispers to you as I whispered to Eve, Do as you please.

    To the young I would whisper The Bible is a myth. I would convince them that man created God,instead of the other way around. I would confide that what is bad is good and what is good is square.

    In the ears of the young married I would whisper that work is debasing, that cocktail parties are good foryou. I would caution them not to be extreme in religion, in patriotism, in moral conduct.

    And the old I would teach to pray; to say after me; Our father which are in Washington.

    Then Id get organized.

    Id educate authors in how to make lurid literature exciting so that anything else would appear dull,uninteresting.

    Id threaten TV with dirtier movies, and vice-versa.

    Id infiltrate unions and urge more loafing, less work. Idle hands usually work for me.

    Id peddle narcotics to whom I could, Id sell alcohol to ladies and gentlemen of distinction, Id tranquilizethe rest with pills.

    If I were the Devil, I would encourage schools to refine young intellects, but neglect to disciplineemotions; let those run wild.

    Id designate an atheist to front for me before the highest courts and Id get preachers to say, Shesright.

    With flattery and promises of power I would get the courts to vote against God and in favor ofpornography.

    Thus I would evict God from the courthouse, then from the schoolhouse, then from the Houses ofCongress.

    Then in his own churches Id substitute psychology for religion and deify science.

    If I were Satan Id make the symbol of Easter an egg

    And the symbol of Christmas a bottle.

    If I were the Devil Id take from those who have and give to those who wanted until I had killed theincentive of the ambitious. Then my police state would force everybody back to work.

    Then I would separate families, putting children in uniform, women in coal mines and objectors in slave-labor camps.

    If I were Satan Id just keep doing what Im doing and the whole world go to hell as sure as the Devil.

    Our View: Fake War on Women a Cynical CampaignSmokescreenApril 20, 2012

    Enough is enough. We get it. The state of our politics dictates that in order to take an activist (or their cause) seriously, one has to

    inject combat metaphors and hyperbole about war in to any argument.

    To us, this notion of the war on women is just as silly as the so-called war on Christmas. Turn off MSNBC for a day, go shadow a Marineon the beat in Kabul, and then get back to us about the willy-nilly use of the term.

    True to form, the Democrat-controlled Colorado State Senatedid its partto open a skirmish line in this wholly contrived gender war

    taking up an annual resolution on equal pay that they no doubt hoped would help sell the broader war on women narrative.

    But Republicans threw them a curveball when Senator Greg Brophy (R-Wray) cleverly offered an amendment regarding recent reports

    about female staffers at the Obama White House (Americas new branch office for lowest common denominator / Third World-style

    identity politics) earning significantly less than their male counterparts over in the West Wing.

    Brophys amendment passed with broad bipartisan support 15 Republicans and nine Democrats voted for the measure. Another 1

    Democrats who we can only conclude must be double-agents or undercover GOP collaborators in this so-called war voted agains

    the measure.

    Senator Brophys delightful rhetorical speedtrap aside, we believe this whole conversation about which party is engaged in a war on

    women says less about the state of gender relations in this country than it does about the abject fear and total desperation that has

    descended on the Obama White House.

    Slaves to poll testing and focus grouping, David Axelrod and his crew in Chicago can be forgiven for doing everything in their power to

    change the conversation from President Obamas borderline criminal mismanagement of Americas finances, his failed economic

    policies and his flaccid and listless foreign policy.

    The White House political hacks appears to have come to the conclusion that shameless gender baiting (along with the exploitation of

    class envy) may be the only remaining tools at their disposal for extending their lease at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue for another four

    years.

    Obama Says "Forward," Democrats Take a Hikeby:Dave DiepenbrockMon May 07, 2012 at 14:39 37 MST

    ( - promoted by ColoradoPeakPolitics)

    The MSM says Obama has a registration problem since some states passed laws designed to endfraudulent registration and

    phony voting. At least here in Colorado, MSM is wrong because local Dems killed election safeguards.

    The real problem for the Dems? Their base is fleeing and they don't know how to get them back. Well, they do, butit involves prohibited practices.

    Gloomy Registered Voter Numbers

    In February a Democrat fellow-traveler group mailed out a faulty registrationmailingto 17,000 "inactives." County clerks had to clean up the mess when

    recipients returned these forms that had no place for a required signature. SoDemocrats seemed to have an advantage: outside and taxpayer money helpingthem.

    By May Day two months later, Democrats had gained 12,744, but withoutoutside help Republicans had added 13,752more active Republicans.Dems,now in third place, are behind both Republicans and "all other" voters !

    Ever since Obama won Colorado, it's been downhill. Democratic numbers (the blue line) declined by mid-2010. Then camea twelve month collapse. Since last summer Republican registration growth outpaced them while Independents and minorparties rebounded strongly. And Independents who stayed "active" after 2010 had delivered about 70,000 more votes toRepublican ticket leader John Suthers than to Suthers' Democratic opponent.

    Between the '08 and '10 elections, Democrats' election participation dropped 21% one and a half times theRepublican decline. (Secretary of State and Voter Contact Services data, author's analysis.)

    Obamacare the Cause?

    DU'sSeth Masket coauthored a studysaying the Obamacare vote cost Democratic Congressional losses in 2010. Votersperceived Obamacare as far left-wing and Democrats as too liberal. Perhaps Obamacare also led Coloradans to avoidDemocrat affiliation.

    Amid the overall decline, here are some particulars:

    Youth Vote

    Gallup reported 78% of under-30 voterswere highly likely to vote in 2008. Today,only 56% of young voters saythey will definitely vote in 2012. Obama's lousy jobs record may not be why young voters have lost enthusiasm.

    Before 9-11 Colorado's young voter turnout ranged from 28% to 31% (Census data). Young voters' opposition to the Iraqwar jumped their turnout to 44% and 46% in '04 and '08, making them 10% of all voters. Just 22% of young Coloradansvoted in 2010. There is no "anti-war boost" among these voters this year. If young voters shrink from 10% to 8%, thatwould cut Obama's Colorado numbers.

    Ski Counties and Affluent Voters

    Ski counties shifted more strongly to the Democratic side from 2004 through 2008 than either before or since. Thesecounties have many high income voters who once voted on liberal wedge issues. In 2012, however, ski county voters mayvote on the economic fundamentals, as they seemed to do in 2010 which would hurt Obama. If well-off Coloradans

    matched this pattern statewide, Obama would suffer.

    Hispanic Voters

    Our state's Hispanic turnout, as a percent of all adult Hispanics, has tracked downward since 1996, Census reports, with twoexceptions 2006 and 2008. In 2010 registered Hispanics fell 6% below 2006, a trend which, if maintained, would meanObama would lose thousands of votes. If the trend accelerates, as it could given our sour economy? Wow.

    These crucial demographics face

    lower turnout by Democratic constituencies and votes shifting toward Romney.

    Alone, they wouldn't push Colorado into the Republican camp but Colorado would have a neck-and-neck race asApril'sPurple Pollreported.

    Scandalous Solutions?

    So far no tactic they've tried has worked for Obama and Colorado's Dems. But past Democratic performance suggests howthey might improve future results:

    After 2004, Colorado's Dems and fellow-travelers used old fashioned methods to boost their registration. Our state's vote

    integrity suffered back then fromAcorn operatives who falsified voter registrations in Colorado Springs. There'sproof of past coordination.Obama was Acorn's lawyerand his 2008campaign paid Acorn for campaign work. Thoseare the facts.

    Given this history, they must avoid similar behavior or at least talk like they intend to. The "talk" part has started. At aweekendvote registration seminar, Obama's operative told participants "Strive for perfection" when registering voters. Is itjust verbal camouflage?

    Sadly, Chicago-style politics are Obama's pattern as we see, again, with his 2012 campaign's refusal to preventillegalcampaign contributions. And Colorado's Democratic state legislators repeatedly killed clean election bills, so our weak lawcontinue to offer concealment for fraudulent vote efforts.
