This year’s conference National Student Exchange was founded in 1968 on August 9th, with charter members University of Alabama, University of Montana, and Illinois State University. It was a time when our nation and students on college campuses were searching to understand identity, history, and how differences fit into the idea of American culture. What began with those three institutions exchanging seven students has grown into a premier network of colleges and universities exchanging 2,000 students annually throughout the United States, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. It did not take long for NSE to realize the strengths of working as a team. We are approaching the 45 th anniversary of the first ever NSE Advisory Council meeting, which was held on November 6 th , 1975. NSE took the first virtual leap in the consortium’s history on September 4 th , 1996. This was an initiative spearheaded by Bryant Tyson in order for students and prospective members to learn more about the exchange process. After 44 years of NSE service, President Bette Worley retired. The NSE Council appointed Vice President Debra Sanborn to succeed President Bette Worley effective October 1 st , 2016. Although we are sad that we could not be together inperson this year, we are happy to be with you all for our first ever virtual NSE Placement Conference. Without further ado, let’s get the party started, today, March 2 nd of 2021! M7 > M14
