NoxiFerm™ – new potent feed ingredient for broilers and pigs
• NoxiFerm™: Natural blends of an4-‐oxidants and sodium gluconate • Together gives interes4ng proper4es in feed for broilers and
other animals • Prebio4c effects: Promotes the produc4on of short chain faVy
acids in broilers and pigs intes4nal tract and increase villus height
• Trial results with broilers show synergis4c effect with significant improved weight gain and FCR. A farm test with pigs indicate a similar effects on produc4on results.
NoxiFerm™ -‐ feed ingredient with interes4ng proper4es
Natural blends of an/-‐oxidants -‐ NoxiGuard™ as part of NoxiFerm™
• NoxiGuard™ is a unique mixture of natural flavoring compounds of botanical origin with high content of polyphenols
• The polyphenols have a very high an4oxidant ac4vity • The ac4ve polyphenols in NoxiGuard™ are more than 3 4mes as potent
an4oxidant as pure synthe4c vitamin E • Introduces a unique combina4on of water and fat soluble an/oxidants
• Important for a broad an4oxidant effect in the animal body • An4oxidant ac4vity is controlled and standardized by analysis
• All-‐round effects due to synergies between the ac4ve elements • NoxiGuard polyphenols are important parts of our NoxiFerm product
NoxiGuard™ -‐ main effects in animals
• The an4oxida4ve effect will be seen by • Immune s4mula4on • Improved health condi4ons • Improved produc4on results • Reduced use of an4oxidant, e.g. Vitamin E and C • Reduced heat stress
• Supports high feed intake during hot environment
§ An4oxidants are natural substances which protect the cells of the body from unstable molecules known as free radicals
§ Free radicals are by-‐products from normal cellular processes
§ An4oxidants interact and stabillize these free radicals
§ The an4oxidants and free radicals must be in balance to avoid oxida4ve stress
What are an4oxidants?
§ An4oxidants neutralize free radicals
§ Elektron dona4on by the an4oxidant
§ Forma4on of complex between oxidizing element
and the an4oxidant
§ Regenerates other an4oxidants
An4oxidants – Modes of ac4on
§ Endogenous § Superoxide dismutase § catalase § glutathionine peroxidase
§ Natural § Vitamin E § Vitamin C § Selenium (not an4oxidant, but co-‐factor to glutathionine peroxidase) § Polyphenols (from herbs, fruit, vegetables)
§ Synthe4c – works in the feed § Ethoxyquin § BHT § BHA
Types of an4oxidants
Nagluferm® -‐ feed material with interes4ng proper4es • Nagluferm® -‐ Sodium gluconate
• Sodium gluconate, sodium salt of d-‐gluconic acids • Gluconic acid is obtained from glucose by fermenta4on
• Gluconate is poorly digested and absorbed in small intes4ne, but fermented subsequently and works as a prebio4c (bypass the small intes4ne) • 70% Gluconic Acid reaches the large intes4ne (Asano et al., 1997)
• Promotes the produc4on of short chain faVy acids which are used as energy source for the animal
• Increases intes4nal villous height and crypt depth • Nagluferm® can accomplish improved produc4on results with
broilers and pigs
