Designed for adults, this course explores aspects of music theory,music history and appreciation. Taught in a “user-friendly” manner by Warren Spaeth,
Chair of the Music Theory Department, each class is a self-contained unit and focuses on a particular topic,such as “What is Music Trying to Express.” Although the emphasis is on Western classical music, examples
from jazz, pop and rock are also explored to demonstrate how each genre has influenced the other.This class does not require the ability to read music.
