Master Teacher to be Appointed
I am pleased to report that Indooroopilly State School has been
allocated the services of a Master Teacher for the next three years.
This position is a result of the governments Great Teachers = Great
Results initiative !ction ".
#ey tas$s of this position include
Improving and enhancing pedagogical practice for all staff by
researching and modelling %uality teaching across all year
levels
&roviding coaching and guidance to teachers and other
classroom staff in delivering %uality teaching
&roviding targeted student support and lead teachers in theenhancement of learning needs practice
Support all staff in the analysis of and response to systemic
and student data
#ey teachers 'ill be selected over the next fe' 'ee$s and 'ill
commence 'or$ in schools at the beginning of the ()*" school year.
This is an exciting initiative. It 'ill provide our school 'ith the
$no'ledge expertise and resources to provide a truly speciali+ed
approach to supporting teachers to improve teaching and learning. !s a
result of the 'or$ of the master teacher our teachers 'ill have
immediate support in ensuring the learning needs of every student areaccurately assessed and subse%uently catered for in every classroom.
The master teacher 'ill 'or$ closely 'ith the &rincipal ,eputy
&rincipals and other support teachers and teacher aides to ensure the
learning outcomes for every student are maximised.

B The South Crisbane train station 'ill be closed from Monday *) /ovember to Sunday *8 /ovember.
Students can use South Can$ station as an alternative.
B There 'ill be maDor bus disruptions from 2pm Thursday *4 /ovember to Sunday *8 /ovember
including the closure of bus'ay stations bet'een Royal 5 5erston and 6oolloongabba stations and many C,
bus stops. If your child commutes to and from the city and surrounding suburbs by bus he0she should aim to
leave the city before 8pm Thursday *4 /ovember to avoid disruptions.

your children and other family members for head lice regularly as early detection decreases treatment time
and helps brea$ the breeding cycle.
,etection of adult lice on the scalp is the best 'ay to determine if head lice are present. 6hile most people
'ith head lice 'ill not develop an itch a small number of people develop an itch due to an allergic reaction to
the saliva of the louse.
The most effective 'ay to detect head lice is by using the hair conditioner and combing method. @ou 'ill need
'hite coloured hair conditioner an ordinary comb a fine tooth head lice comb and 'hite tissue0$itchen to'el.
!pply sufficient 'hite conditioner to dry hair to completely cover the scalp and hair from roots to
tips.
Qse an ordinary comb to detangle hair and evenly distribute the conditioner. ,ivide the hair into four
sections.
omb hair from root to tips using a fine tooth head lice comb.
!fter each stro$e 'ipe the comb onto a 'hite tissue chec$ing the comb and tissue for head lice.
omb the 'hole head chec$ing for lice. &ut all tissues in a plastic bag tie the top and put the bag in a rubbish bin.
Students 'ho sho' symptoms of head lice or have eggs present in their hair are notexcluded from class or
school. 6e as$ that all families chec$ for lice regularly and treat any infestations 'hen they are detected.

COMMUNITY GARDENING IS EVOLVING
AT INDOOROOPILLY STATE SCHOOL
And so is the School Garden!The ISS Growing Community has hosted a very
successful working bee. Planting herbs, okra, beans,
beetroot and silver beet and a few flowers to attract
bees and deter pests.
Thank youto the 5 families that came what a
satisfying morning of work
!ou"ll see we"ve covered the garden with shade cloth
and straw mulch to protect our little seedlings from
this heat and keep the soil moist and cool.
But there are Sunflowers and more vegies to be
planted!
