November 28, 2017 Dear CWA Staff and Parents, The health safety and welfare of the students, staff and visitors at Capitol West Academy is our chief concern. In light of recent safety issues, the local school district and the city of Milwaukee authorized charter schools have commenced lead testing in all of their buildings. CWA has had lead testing done by two organizations, Eurofins (8/20/17) and UWM’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (9/30/17). The results show that no drinking fountain and no faucet used in food preparation exceed the lead levels set forth by the Milwaukee Health Department (MHD) recommendation of 15ppb. Eurofins statement: All quality control samples and checks were within acceptance limits. All samples were in good condition when received by the laboratory. UWM’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering: In summary, none of the test conducted identified lead exceeding the Action Level established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) for residential drinking water consumption. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me. Sincerely, Donna M. Niccolai Weber Executive Director, Capitol West Academy Cc: David Lucey, CWA Board Chair
