Raise the Flag
Next week Marjorie Pugliese, a parishioner, will address us at the Masses. She is deeply involved in a program designed to help people. Ms. Pugliese will appeal to those of us who may wish to assist her in some capacity. She has already spoken with some group leaders in the parish with a view to ad-dressing their members as a group. This is how Five Flags Company, Inc. provides assistance: “We help people in need make their dreams come true - - - providing certi-fication training in food handling, training in home improvement contractor license testing, training in completing business plans and resumes, training in growth of financial literacy, efficiency and effectiveness, etc. It provides networking resources for those in need of jobs and job support, connec-tions to those who provide rental payment assistance, food pantry support and clothing support. It also assists families in crisis, connecting clients to community services who can help them. Help is also given by way of train-ing in business skills, assistance with credit repair, etc.” For a more detailed look at Five Flags, go to www.makeusjobs.org. Marjorie’s appearance and appeal presents an opportunity to those among us who are attracted to such involvement and who are willing to be actively engaged in a work designed to make a practical difference in our immediate Staten Island society. Let us give her a good hearing and every consideration.
Father Travers
