Michael and Patty Weeks have moved to a cottage from

Mt. Gilead, North Carolina, near the Uwharrie National Forest.

Michael, who is still working in social science research, enjoys

reading, exercise & volunteer work. Patty, a retired occupational

health registered nurse, enjoys art and church activities. Their children are

Katherine Lusch of Mooresville, Michael of Kenmore, Washington and Adam

of Raleigh. The Weeks have been members of First United Methodist in Mt.

Gilead for over ten years.

Reba “Lorene” Thomas moved to a Trinity Oaks apartment from High

Point, North Carolina. She is a retired stay-at-home mom who enjoys ballroom

dancing, reading and knitting. Lorene’s daughter Nicole Hodges lives in

Kernersville.

Mary Anne Scherff left Greensboro for an apartment at Trinity Oaks. She is

a retired piano teacher and a gardener. Her children are Jo Anne Mullis of

Salisbury, Mike Oakley of Greensboro and Paul Scherff of Stokesdale, North

Carolina. Mary Anne is a member of Trinity Church (Evangelical Covenant) in

Greensboro.

November 1: Piedmont Player’s Theater presents . . .

Wait Until Dark: Even if you saw the movie with Audrey Hepburn,

there are enough twists and turns to the plot that you will be surprised by

the heroine’s ingenuity. The play starts at 7:30 p.m.

November 7: A Day in the Park: Phyllis Kluttz of Rowan Senior

Games is treating us to a day at Dan Nicholas Park complete with lunch and a talk

by Animal Services Director Bob Pendergrass. We will be gem mining, touring the

zoo, hiking, paddle boating and yes, riding the carousel!

November 8: Little Women—The Musical: Lee Street Theatre does it again

with the story of the March sisters set to music. The musical made its Broadway

debut in 2005. See it in Salisbury with Trinity Oaks!

November 10: Salisbury Symphony Jazz Night: We journey to

Livingstone College for this salute to jazz.

November 11: Legacy of Motown Revue: The Lincolnton Concert

Association takes you back to the days of the Drifters, Coasters, Jacksons, Earth

Wind & Fire, Temptations and so many more legendary groups. Featuring

talented performers plus an amazing six-piece horn band.

November 12: Price of Freedom Museum: This important World War

II museum is right here in China Grove. We’ll spend our post-Veterans Day

remembering that freedom isn’t free.

November 13: Two Events, One Big Day: We start off at the famous

Hanes Bakery in Winston-Salem for their oh-so-wonderful Moravian cookies.

We end the day at Davidson College for their United in Music concert honor-

ing Grammy Award-winning clarinetist, composer, and improviser, Kinan

Azmeh.

November 16: Historian Terry Holt: Retired teacher Terry Holt brings

history alive in Rowan Museum’s History Course. This afternoon his topic is

Native Americans.

November 17: Seagrove Pottery Festival: There are three pottery centers

in North Carolina: Catawba Valley, Buncombe County and Seagrove. Potters

abound at this annual festival.

November 19: Southern Supreme Fruitcake: We travel to Bear Creek to

this iconic shop for chocolate, nuts, candy and yes, fruitcake.

November 21: ‘Tis the Season Spectacular Parade: A busload of Trinity

Oaks staff and residents will be in this new rendition of the Spencer-Salisbury

holiday parade.

November 27: Christmas Tree Shop, Greensboro: Need Christmas

decorations? Look no further than this popular destination.

November 28: Davidson College Holiday Gala: Always a sell out, but we

have tickets to this yearend celebration with choirs, orchestra, jazz band, soloists

and dancers.
