I want to thank Mrs. Meyer for dedicating so much time for working with our students to make our Remembrance Day ceremony so inspiring and memorable. We involve our stu- dents from elementary to high school in commemorating this important occasion for Canadi- ans. Thank you to the five high school students that shared their memories and thoughts from their trip to Vimy Ridge last year. Report cards are going to be emailed out to you on November 17th. This will be for all stu- dents at Warburg School. Our elementary parents are used to a two page document sent out on report card day and our junior high and high school parents are used to receiving an email saying that comments and marks are now available in PowerSchool. This year we are going to be sending, via email, a PDF of a more traditional looking report card to all par- ents. There are some limitations to this, however. The PDF of the report cards limit how many characters can be printed in the comments sections. So you may be reading com- ments and it could be cut off mid-sentence. Please refer to your Parent Portal to see com- plete comments. A note that anything in blue on PowerSchool is a link to further infor- mation. We are sending home a quick reference guide on how to use PowerSchool in your Parent Portal. This is a learning process for many of our parents and we want to help as much as we can. Please contact the school and we will assist you as much as possible. For our parents in high school, I would like to remind you that students that are absent for 11 periods in any class results in a withdrawal from that course. If students do not attend they cannot achieve. This and other important information about our school can be found in our school handbook on our website. ws.blackgold.ca/students/student-handbook Thank you to those of you that come to the school with concerns you have about anything that pertains to the education of your child at Warburg School. Issues are usually resolved quickly and are often a result of miscommunication. Perpetuating false information via social media platforms does not support the safe and caring learning environment we have at War- burg School. Regards, Wendy Maltais

Dear Warburg Families,

November at school means two things - Remembrance Day and Report Cards.

I want to thank Mrs. Meyer for dedicating so much time for working with our students to make our Remembrance Day ceremony so inspiring and memorable. We involve our stu-dents from elementary to high school in commemorating this important occasion for Canadi-ans. Thank you to the five high school students that shared their memories and thoughts from their trip to Vimy Ridge last year.

Report cards are going to be emailed out to you on November 17th. This will be for all stu-dents at Warburg School. Our elementary parents are used to a two page document sent out on report card day and our junior high and high school parents are used to receiving an email saying that comments and marks are now available in PowerSchool. This year we are going to be sending, via email, a PDF of a more traditional looking report card to all par-ents. There are some limitations to this, however. Mrs. Meyer’s Sensational Performances By: Ashley K., Hannah L., Jadyn B. and Ellie S.

The elementary option group is proud to perform in the Remembrance Day ceremo-

ny on November 10th at 10:30am. The ceremony is taking place in the elementary

gym to honor the soldiers that passed away for Canada and it’s citizens.

One of the students in the option said, “This option is fun and enjoyable for every-

one”. Mrs. Meyer is planning some things. She will be putting together two songs, one

choreography, two poems and more. The choreography will be performed by the op-

tion group and one of the songs will be performed by the

grade 6’s. A couple veterans will be coming to honor the

soldiers too! We will have two students from each grade

to pin a poppy on the cross in the poppy parade. Every-

body is practicing hard for the Remembrance Day cere-

mony. Lest We Forget!

Archery aims to train straight arrows!

Every week on Monday and Friday lunch you will find Mr. Arnold and the Archery Team in the gym with their bows. The archers are practicing toward bettering their skills and ramping up for the 2018 competition season. Coaches Arnold and Woodliffe both have their National Archery in School Program Basic Archery Instructor Training, which requires an 8 hour training program. The National Archery in Schools Program (NASP) is a joint venture between provincial departments of Education and Wildlife. The program promotes student education, physical education and participation in the life long sport of Archery. “Educators are looking for ways to improve student motivation, attention, behavior, attendance, and focus. Teachers strive to achieve state and national educational standards regarding de-velopment of micro and macro motor ability and listening and observa-tion skills. They hope to engage each student in the educational process and develop relationships to promote graduation instead of drop-out. Wildlife Conservation agencies are concerned too many young people are forgoing learning outdoor skills that will inspire them to spend more time with wild things in wild places. Natural resource professionals are convinced learning target shooting skills will result in character and self-reliance development that will serve the future of wildlife conservation well. The National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP®) was developed to serve these specific educational and conservation purposes. “ (“NASP.” naspschools.org/.)

Award winning author, Karen Bass, came to our school on November 2nd. Scrapbooking, A Big Hit in Warburg School! By:Jorja L.,Jenna L, Calleigh S., and Hayley J.

Sharon Martin has started an option class called scrapbooking. It is on Mon-days and Wednesdays period 7&8 in Sharon’s grade 1 class. They made the new option class because it is easy to do and she loves doing it. The kids in scrapbooking really enjoy it.

When the option started the kids were excited. We asked them on a scale from 1-10 this is how much they like it.

Sharon Martin- “It would have to be 10/10 because it relaxes me.”

Carter- “10/10 because we can make whatever we want.” Genuine- “9/10 it’s fun to draw, cut, and colour.”

Hunter- “10/10 I like to trace and draw.”

Madi- “10/10 because you can make anything you want.”

The scrapbooking option is new to the school. Sharon has been scrapbooking for twenty two years. She started scrapbooking by pasting pictures of her baby boy. The scrapbooking option is fun

Grade 3 had Ms. Frizzle from The Magic School Bus in to their

classroom on Nov. 10th to help with their Science unit, Rocks

and Minerals! Ms. Frizzle, also known as, Mrs. MacGregor,

helped the students with scratch testing and colour testing the

rocks, along with a few parent volunteers. Thanks to everyone

Thank you very much for supporting W.S. in the Indigo “Adopt a School” program. Whether you were a book donator, story writer, or voted for a story, every little bit helped! We received $1350.00 gift card from Indigo. Mrs. Sarvas had her virtual shopping cart all ready to go to and has purchased over $800 worth of new books for our students so far! And with a 30% discount from Indigo this really helps to spread the money over a lot of purchases! This is a HUGE bonus in our K-12 school library budget, as our purchases have to be made for such a large spread of interest

and reading levels!

Thank you!

December will soon be upon us. Remember that we have a P.D. day (No School) on Dec. 1st. Last day of school before the Christmas holidays is December 22nd.

“Flash”, the Tornado Hunters truck, was a huge hit for our students to see on October 26th. Along with one of the Tornado Hunters, Chris Chittick, of course! Wade M. especially enjoyed meeting the Netflix celebrities!

Don’t forget to remove your outer footwear before entering the school!

Our custodians work very hard to maintain a shiny clean environment

for our students, staff, and guests. Winter boots are leaving scuff

marks all over the hallways and the marks are not easily removed.

Please be courteous and remove your outdoor foot-

wear at the boot room entrance.
