Flying through summer has seen many Bluebill accomplishments.

This year has been a reflection of all the good deeds the Olympic

Peninsula has come to expect from the Bluebills. Golf Tournaments,

School Presentations, Feeding Programs, World Vision deliveries,

School Supply dispersals, Handicap Ramps and Fall Prevention are

just a few of the benefits our communities have come to appreciate.

Since we tend to spend more time getting our projects completed

than we do patting peoples back I would like to take this opportunity

to thank every Bluebill for their contributions over the past year. It is

all of you, down to the person who takes a picture, shakes a hand,

brings an idea to the table, turns on a light, makes a sandwich, or

writes an article for us to read in the Flyer that make the Bluebills

one of the most respected organizations on the Peninsula.

As temperatures drop and the rains return it reminds us that it is

time to start preparing for next year’s projects. A new year brings

new ideas, and with new ideas come new opportunities. Every

organization on the peninsula faces the same problems.

Declining memberships due to numerous reasons and an

increase in the number of people needing our attention is

creating an enormous challenge. We need additional volunteers

for more and new projects so I am urging anyone who might

know of someone who enjoys giving back to their community to

invite them to join us and I am inviting any existing members to

step up and help with our current activities.

Be Safe

Bluebills pick up Yoobi Boxes for Peninsula Schools

On October 24, OlyPen Bluebills made a run to Fife to the World Vision

Warehouse. There they picked up Yoobi boxes for Peninsula schools. What

is a Yoobi box? Yoobi is an organization that provides supplies to schools as

a result of their unique program of charitable giving. Briefly, yoobi stands for

“one for you and one for me”. For every Yoobi item purchased via their

website, a Yoobi item will be donated to a classroom in need. For more

information about this organization, click here: yoobi– our story.

Each of the approximately 100 boxes shown on the truck in the picture below

contains individually packaged school supplies for 30 children. A total of 130

boxes were delivered to 12 schools on the Olympic Peninsula thanks to the

Bluebills and Lee and Bonnie Douglass.

From the Douglasses-

Ed,

Lee and I want to thank you for all the time and effort you gave to this year’s

School Supplies Program. All the phone calls, e-mails, the locating of

volunteers, the acquisition and distribution of supplies for the children of

Mason, Jefferson, Clallam and Kitsap Counties.

The student count totals over 3400. For all you did for all of us as well as the

students, we voted and found you to be The MVP for the school year 2017-

2018.

Again thank you very much for all you did to make this endeavor successful.

Deep in your debt,

Lee & Bonnie Douglass

Wheelchair Ramp and a Thank You Note Photos by Charlie Johnson

Hi Charlie,

This afternoon we went to my sister's to take a photo of the wheel

chair ramp. It was beautiful! Very streamlined and classy looking. We took

photos and showed them to my sister and she is very pleased.

By the way, Terri at Catholic Community Chore Service told me you do safety

inspections of homes as well. I would love it if you could do that at my sister's

and tell me specifically where grab bars or a bed pole should go in her

house. This is all new to me. I want to do the right things for my sister when

she can come home to her house. I will be talking to Senior Information and

Referral as well about services available to her tomorrow.

Thank you so much for the beautiful wheel chair ramp. You guys rock!
