President’s Podium
Happy November! I hope fall is treating you well. I’m writing this
prior to Game 1 of the World Series, so hopefully when you are reading this, the Royals have won!! The Holidays are fast approaching and you deserve a break! Join us for the KCIFMA Annual Holiday Event. CLICK HERE for full details and to register.
This is a great opportunity to network and enjoy an evening with your colleagues and friends. Please remember, if you plan to bring an unwrapped toy that teens and tweens are often forgotten. “Big” kid toys are much needed and appreciated. I hope to see you there!
The Holidays are a great time to reflect on our lives and be thankful for
all of the good we receive. Each of us face our own personal struggles, but for many of us the good overcomes and we have much for which to be thankful. Unfortunately, there are many people in this world (in our community) that face what seem like insurmountable hurdles and the holidays can be an especially difficult time. If you are able to give back to the community either with some extra money or with your time, I encourage you to do so. Here is a list of a few opportunities in the KC Metro: Click Here
Have a wonderful November and Thanksgiving Holiday.
Thank you, Michele Gregg, CFM, SFP │ KCIFMA President │ [email protected]
Kansas City Chapter
Monthly Program Meeting
Tuesday, November 17, 2015 • 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM
Dining Etiquette
Ritz Charles
9000 W 137th St
Overland Park, KS 66221
Here's the scene... You're at lunch with a client. In front of you are many place settings. Is your bread plate on your right or left? Do you cut your bread or tear it? Do you butter all the bread or just part? Which glass of water is yours? Someone asks you to pass the salt, do you grab it and pass, or pass with the pepper? Do you pass to the right, or left ?!?!?
No Worries - Back by popular demand ... If you missed this Program Meeting last time, do not miss it again ...
Manners are a way of life. “Etiquette is not about impressing people, it is about using kindness, courtesy, and respect in every part of our daily lives.” Melenie Broyles founder of Etiquette Saint Louis and co-author of The Little Pink Book of Etiquette
Good manners should be a way of life, and practicing such manners gives one the confidence to feel comfortable in social and business situations.
Thank You to our Lunch Sponsors

Careers Committee Hi everyone, our chapter has exciting news!! We have a new committee that is beginning which will focus on providing information on new job postings, career seeking “tips and tricks” for those who are looking to advance their career with new opportunities, and will also be for those who just want to stay up to date with current trends in creating an online presence, writing resumes and cover letters, and interviewing skills. It can also keep anyone abreast of what’s going on in the facilities community.
We’ll be updating the website with a Careers tab which will provide information on job search engines, recruiters, job postings, etc., so look for this to get underway in the coming weeks.
We’ll also be providing a few educational programs early next year for people who want to update their resumes and their internet presence, and will provide some tips for interviewing for that new job; or even for those who just want to freshen up their resumes and electronic footprint so that they’re prepared should they need it in the future!
We’ll be sending out a short electronic survey by the end of November to get a feel for how we can best serve the members, so keep your eyes open for that so that your voice and opinions can be heard!!
So…stay tuned!!
Sincerely,
Pam Dawson, Careers Co-Chair

Clarifications Monthly Chapter Programs:
Please register on-line for each monthly program.
You may pay via a credit card. If you purchased the Program Pay Pack (you save 10% and they don’t expire) click the “Pay Pack” button. See details at www.kcifma.com
You can pay by Cash or Check at the door. We do not accept credit cards at the door.
GUESTS:
You or your guest must register to attend any monthly program. A Professional guest can attend one time at no charge. After you have registered
yourself, register the guest, and be sure to put a comment in the “Notes” section advising Joycelyn that this person is a potential Professional Member and to the best of your knowledge they have not attended a monthly program previously, and thus should be free. It is your responsibility to declare this when you register them.
All other guests should be registered. If you are paying for them, you can make the payment on-line or select Cash/Check. You can NOT use a Pay Pack for a guest. Typically the program fee (including lunch) for a guest is $30.
Please send an Email to the Membership Chair prior to the monthly program so
someone from our committee can greet your guest and to make sure you and your guest are acknowledged at the program.
Social Media LinkedIn – We have a KCIFMA LinkedIn Group. If you want to connect, send an
email to [email protected] requesting to be added. If you have a white paper or announcement that our members would benefit from,
please submit it to [email protected] for review and upload. The article should be vendor/product agnostic, but you will be credited with the submittal.
The Membership Committee would like to summarize recent Q & A’s and clarifications about the guidelines IFMA HQ publishes
about your membership.
