More than 42 million Americans turn to the wilderness seeking escape from the stress of everyday life by going camping. Trading in the comfort of their home for nights under the stars. But, long before it was one of America’s beloved pastimes, camping was a way of life. It was a way to survive harsh weather conditions for many groups of people while traveling cross country. So rather you want to camp for leisure or survival, you’re in luck because the Lifestyle Merit Program is featuring camping! LMP members will learn how to setup camp for themselves. You won’t want to miss it!
Friday, November 6th: Camping 6:00 pmCypress Point Recreation Center

DEVELOPMENT UPDATES • That huge lake that is being excavated at the corner of FM
646 and FM 270 is nearing completion. Besides adding to
Tuscan Lakes’ system of lakes, the new basin will serve to
expand on Tuscan Lakes storm water runoff control plan.
• The long awaited City permit to expand the park on Lago
Nicola at Louisiana Avenue was issued the week of October
26th. Construction is expected to commence on or about
November 15th. The expansion will include a pavilion, splash
pad, parking and open space.
• Engineering for the remaining home sites in Tuscan Lakes south
of League City Parkway is underway. DR Horton Homes and
Westin Homes are selling new homes at a fast pace. Hopefully,
development can keep up! Our newest builder, K Hovnanian
Homes, will start home construction early in 2016.
• Finishing touches are being put on the new retail center east
of Valero. The developer has indicated that the space is 100%
pre-leased.

Meet Brandon Cornett. Brandon, was raised right here in the heart of Tuscan Lakes and has now gone off to do amazing things using his talent, music. With graduating from SHSU in 2011 with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and UMKC in 2013 with his Master’s in Cello Performance, he is now the Assistant Orchestra Director at Westbrook Intermediate CCISD. His orchestra received Best in State for middle schools and will be playing for the Teacher’s Music Educator Association. But Brandon goes above and beyond for his students. He exposes them to Houston’s rich music by taking them to concerts all around the area, from Jones Hall to the Houston Symphony.
Brandon is going on his 3rd year teaching at Westbrook alongside Tom Dinardis (Director). Since his arrival at Westbrook, Brandon has formed a chamber group of kids at the intermediate, giving them an opportunity to perform all around town at various functions. Outside of school, Brandon has also formed the Clear Lake Chamber Ensemble, performs for the Clear Lake Symphony AND teaches private cello lessons. And in his “spare” time, he is a Clinician/Adjudicator for All State and is a contracted musician for weddings and other social functions! Brandon is the perfect example of what happens when you go full throttle after your dreams!

We often forget how good we got it, caught up in the mist of life
But if we forget, we take for granted the wonderful miracles that are constantly around us
Take a minute to breathe and delight in the present
And remember to be grateful and never forget it,
Because sadness cannot survive in gladness
And hurt cannot thrive in gratitude
For this one life we must me thankful.
