Political humorist Mo Rocca heads to Indiana, home to some of the strictest election laws in the country, and meets one Republican and one Democrat who take him inside their efforts to get out every vote. As he progresses on his journey, he searches for the Electoral College; critiques ballot design with Todd Oldham; investigates the debate over voter ID and voter fraud; and explores the case of a former felon who was sentenced to 10 years in prison — for the crime of voting.

Wednesday, November 14 at 8pm

Follow a wood duck family as a male and female create a bond, migrate together across thousands of miles, nurture and protect a brood of chicks, then come full circle as they head to their wintering grounds.

PBS Digital Studios adds A Moment of Science to its online network The creative team responsible for the popular Icons Remixed series, which features the auto-tuning of Mister Rogers, Bob Ross and Julia Child, as well as a number of other series including Off Book, Idea Channel and Sound Tracks Quick Hits has added A Moment of Science to its offerings.WTIU is one of the first PBS stations in the nation to work with the PBS for the new initiative, intended to create, curate and distribute video content produced specifically for the Web. The aim is to use online video to attract young adult audiences who grew up watching PBS, but have abandoned traditional television in favor of online viewing.

“A Moment of Science is a perfect example of how radio, TV and online can work together to explain complex scientific principles to the average listener, viewer or Web user,” WTIU station manager Phil Meyer said. “We tried to present the information in an entertaining way in keeping with the original radio segments.”

Feel good knowing that the extra money you’ve saved during your lifetime will go to a cause you love— Public Broadcasting. The amount of retirement funds available to you won’t be reduced by your gift.

The gift would not occur during your lifetime.

In most cases, this is a simple and easy gift to make without a lawyer.

If many listeners and viewers left even 5% of their retirement plan assets to the station, the results would be transformative.

Simply include WTIU as a beneficiary on your retirement plan’s beneficiary form.

Many people do not realize that retirement plans are taxed heavily when left to heirs. In some states, this can climb over 35%. Retire-ment plan assets such as TIAA-CREF or Fidelity plans make a great gift to charity. You can name WTIU as one of the beneficiaries of your plan and the entire amount will benefit the station free of taxes.

Vets’ Healing Journeys To VietnamSunday, November 11, 4pm

We hear from Dr. Edward Tick, psychologist and author of book War and the Soul and founder of Soldier’s Heart, an organization that sponsors annual healing journeys for U.S. citizens, veterans and non-vets, back to Vietnam. We hear from two American soldiers who made one such trip back to the former battlegrounds.

Economic Club of Indiana Sunday, November 25, 4pm

As a member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, he proposed the Bernanke Doctrine, and first discussed “the Great Moderation”—the theory that traditional business cycles have declined in volatility in recent decades through structural changes that have occurred in the international economy.

Bernanke has published many articles on a wide variety of economic issues and is the author of several scholarly books and two textbooks.

This documentary from Peace Talks Radio features stories about former enemies in war reconciling to achieve peace within themselves. Host Carol Boss speaks with two United States veterans of the Vietnam War, who discuss their trips to Vietnam to meet their former enemies, in an effort to work through Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Ben Bernanke, chairman of the Federal Reserve, addresses the Economic Club in their Luncheon Speakers Series.

During his tenure, Bernanke oversaw the Federal Reserve’s response to the late-2000s financial crisis. Previously, he was a tenured professor at Princeton University and chaired the department of economics there.

The Dust BowlSunday-Monday, November 18-19 at 8pm

This new two-part, four-hour documentary by Ken Burns chronicles the environmental catastrophe that, throughout the 1930s, destroyed the farmlands of the Great Plains, turned prairies into deserts and unleashed a pattern of massive, deadly dust storms that for many seemed to herald the end of the world. It was the worst man-made ecological disaster in American history.

The Dust Bowl chronicles this critical moment in American history in all its complexities and profound human drama. It is, in part, oral history, using compelling interviews with 26

survivors of those hard times — what will probably be the last recorded testimony of the generation that lived through the Dust Bowl. Filled with seldom-seen movie footage, previously unpublished photographs, the songs of Woody Guthrie and the observations of two remarkable women who left behind eloquent written accounts, the film is also a historical accounting of what happened and why during the 1930s on the southern plains.

Visit pbs.org/dustbowl for video clips, opportunities for users to share stories, background information on the film and filmmakers, and information on engagement activities. The site includes selections from scripts, video outtakes and transcripts from interviews, archival footage and photographs and music, as well as educational outreach materials and lesson plans that will enable teachers to use the Dust Bowl as a historical lens to explore changes affecting the environment today.
