Have You Seen This?It’s Here!

Finally, the wait is over. The world’s Twihards can breathe a sigh of relief because the epic finale of the world phenomenon the Twilight Saga is in theatres this month! Starting off where part one left off, we now get to see the film adaption of Stephenie Meyer’s novel on the big screen.

Bella is finally a vampire and a part of the glamorous world of the immortals. She has the strength of any newborn, but also the control of a well-aged vampire.

“I got to that

part, and was like, ‘What?’”

Everything is right in Bella’s world. She has joined Edward and his family as vampires, she has the capability to be around humans without harming them (which means she won’t have to say goodbye to her father after all) and Jacob no longer loves her as anything more than a friend. But with the good comes the bad. The Volturi have heard of Renesmee and think the Cullens have comitted the heinous crime of creating an immortal child and they will do anything to keep vampires existence a secret.

In the novel, the Cullens rally tons

of vampires to stand by their

side to make the Volturi hesitate and listen, and

there is no fighting, but according to

Stephenie Meyer, the movie has a different ending. Robert Pattinson

said, upon reading the script, “I got to that part

and was like, ‘What?’”

This is a remake of the 1984 film of the same name. When North Korean soldiers invade their home town, brothers Jed and Matt Eckert, along with a group of other teens, decide to take back their town. They form a group called the Wolverines and plan sneaky attacks against the soldiers.

Starring: Chris Hemsworth as Jed Eckert, leader of the Wolverines.Josh Peck as Matt Eckert, younger brother of Jed.Josh Hutcherson as Robert Kinter, another Wolverine.Isabel Lucas as Erica Mason.Adrianne Palicki as Toni Mason, sister of Erica.Brett Cullen as Tom Eckert, father of Jed and Matt.

The 1984 film, directed by John Milius and co-written by Milius and Kevin Reynolds, starred Patrick Swayze, Lea Thompson, Charlie Sheen, and Jennifer Grey. It was the first movie rated PG-13 by the MPAA. In this version, it’s the 1980’s and a section of America is taken over by Soviet soldiers along with their Cuban and Nicuaragan allies. A group of high school students resist by using guerrilla warfare. They name themselves after their school mascot, the Wolverine.

Staying Healthy

Everyone loves the holiday season. It’s full of family get-togethers, good times, and a lot of good food! One of the best things of this time of the year are the meals. Its a time to share recipes, show off your culinary skills, and impress your family. However, with all this gluttony food around, it’s easy to gain a few pounds, something we

all want to avoid. So what’s the secret? How do we enjoy the holdiays without feeling guilty about what we eat? The old-as-time answer is simply to exercise! “Eat less and exercise more,” is what nutrition experts say. And they have a couple simple tips that you can apply to your Thanksgiving meal, other holidays, and beyond!

• Eat slowly, enjoy each mouthful.

• Exercise before and after the big meal.

• Eat breakfast.

• Don’t eat seconds.

• Use less fattening ingredients.

• Only eat the rare holiday treats you rarely get.

On eating slowly, its a good idea to actually put your utensils down between bites and breathe. You don’t want to choke! Drink a lot of water, stretch, and go for a ten-minute walk or run before and after the meal. Eating a light breakfast can also help. Going in startving, you’ll feel like you need to eat more than you actually do.

Also, don’t eat any seconds, though it can be tempting. Save the leftovers and eat them tomorrow! Also, if you happen to contribute to the meal at all, use less fattening ingredients. Use less sugar, oil, and butter. Substitute healthier ingredients. And don’t eat foods you can eat any other day of the year, such as your usual breads.

neighborhood• Jump-roping• Walking (with your dog?)• Dancing!

One of the major problems with today is that everyone is exhausted all the time. Some people drink coffee, everyday, all day. But that can be expensive and unhealthy. Others try caffeine and sugar, but that’s

not long lasting OR healthy. So what do we do? What can help us get out of this slump? The answer is simply healthy eating and exercise. You may think you can’t afford it or don’t have the time, but the truth is, you can’t afford

NOT to. Healthy food gives you the long-lasting energy to get you through the day. Exercise can help keep your body the way you want it to be and eating healthy will make you feel much better each and everyday.

A campus against bullying

KPARK is a school that students want to go to. It’s a place where students feel safe and respected. The halls are not infested with bullies like other schools. Everyone has a place to belong,

and they are not judged for who they are. Even though K-Park is already a wonderful place to be we still have to remind students sometimes that they need to be kind and respectful to each other. A special anti-bullying committee run by Mrs. Aktkinson is behind all of the reminders around the school.

Bullying is a problem at many schools, students wake up every morning afraid to go to school. At K-Park we have Around two years ago Mrs. Atkinson started an anti-bullying committee to prevent the damage of bullying at K-Park. The committee puts signs up around school to make students feel bet-ter about themselves rather than how bullies make the students feel. Along with the positive messages around school the committee brings the school to par-ticipate in holidays like Stand-Up Day. Stand-Up Day started when a boy was bullied for wearing pink, so a few other kids wore pink to support him. They make T-shirts for each of their events to advertise what they are doing. “The reason we love K-Park is because anti-bullying is supported by our student body and we as a group want to further that”- Sydney Miller11
