To: WU GROUP Subject: FW: Water Utility Service Team, Please read the note below from Water Utility Board member Lauren Cnare. Thanks to all involved with this morning's main leaks. Job well done! Tom Heikkinen General Manager Madison Water Utility -----Original Message----- From: Cnare, Lauren Sent: Thursday, November 12, 2009 2:16 PM To: Heikkinen, Tom Subject: Water Utility Service What an exciting night for me! First, we passed a budget in two nights. (Long nights, but only 2!) When I drove home, two houses were being moved through District 3, really out the moonlight and the route home for me. (Kinda fun to watch them lumber down the road at 2 am to flashing lights of 8 police cars!) My re-route took me through the neighborhood, where I discovered my first water main break! Rather attractive, that bubbling and spouting between the gutter and the pavement. I called your emergency number and was greeted by a really jolly guy who gathered the details to be sure it was what I suspected, we discussed taking the back roads due to the house moves, and by noon today when I drove by the former fountain, everything was put to rights. Only the new black pavement patches and a bit of sand made the place look different than 24 hours before. Please thank the staff for their attitude and work. LC Lauren Cnare Alder, District 3

From: Kissling, Alice J Sent: Friday, November 13, 2009 2:01 PM To: Water Subject: thank you I live at 5101 Retana Dr. in the Heritage Heights subdivision. Thursday I woke up to no water inside and flashing lights outsdie. My sincere thanks to the folks who did the repairs. You worked quickly and were very helpful. I never realized how completely I take for granted the service you provide, and I never before had to think about what it takes to bring that water to my house. I appreciate it a little more now!
