As my year of being Chair for the OVSCC comes to a close, I would like to thank all the members of the Board and you, the membership.

This is my third time as Chair of the chapter and I appreciated the privilege to serve and represent our Chapter.

I know that Brian Czetty will do a fine job as your new Chapter Chair for the upcoming year as he brings new energy and ideas to our Chapter.

I would like to invite all of you to attend our last meeting of the OVSCC for this year. This is our “Student Night” were several of our brightest young stars present their topics before the membership. We will also recognize our new OVSCC Officers for 2015. As we have done at our last two meetings, we will have some great door prize Gift Cards that will go to several lucky members in attendance that night.

Do not forget to send in your SCC Membership dues as our Chapter is always in competition for the top retention spot of all the Chapters. The top Chapter receives a monetary stipend from National. At the current time the OVSCC is currently tied with the Twin Cities at 60%, with the Southwest Chapter in first place with 63% retention.

See you all on November 19th!

-Joe Jendzio

SOCIETY OF COSMETIC CHEMISTS

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION 2014 TECHNOLOGY SHOWCASE

In conjunction with the Annual Scientific Meeting December 11, 2014 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. December 12, 2014 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

The New York Hilton & Towers Hotel, New York City THE TECHNOLOGY SHOWCASE RUNS FOR TWO DAYS

Our members have a continual need to maintain their current awareness of new materials, emerging technologies, innovative services, and state-of-the-art equipment in their pursuit of developing

tomorrow's cosmetic and OTC products. The "Technology Showcase" was begun to provide a forum for the chemists and scientists of suppliers and contract laboratories serving the personal care industry to present their most recent developments in a poster format. This "Showcase" combines the details of a

scientific poster session with the pragmatic directness of a commercial exhibit (trade names, demonstration prototypes, and supportive literature presented). This venue as a part of the Society's

Annual Scientific Meeting enables it to be an effective information medium for cosmetic scientists. Participants are invited to present their information in a poster format (4' x 8') to include experimental

data, graphs, illustrations/photos, and prototypes on the technical attributes of the featured product or technology. Complete trade names as well as the INCI nomenclature is requested for ingredients.

Companies wishing to participate are to submit an abstract of approximately 150-200 words of their intended presentation to the Committee on Scientific Affairs (COSA) on or before September 15,

2014. Abstract Cover Sheets can be printed from our website www.scconline.org. The abstract and cover sheet should be emailed to [email protected]. Abstracts must be in a Word

Document format only. Abstracts will be reviewed on a “first come-first served” basis as the "Technology Showcase" is limited to the number of posters allowed. There is a flat fee is $1,200.00 per

poster. The fee does not include any Meeting Registrations per poster. Company representatives will be required to register for the Annual Meeting. Notification of acceptance will be made by October 20, 2014 and

payment must be made in full by November 26, 2014.
