Kudos to Sherry Tripodi, Kat Braz, Amanda Estes,

and our yoUUth for a successful weekend. We

kicked it off with the annual talent show and soup

cook off. Then the youth stayed overnight to prepare

for the next morning’s pancake breakfast fundraiser

to raise money for an upcoming youth trip to

Chicago.

See below for Maxwell’s original poem that was

shared at the talent show and some pictures from the

pancake breakfast.

Upon a Canary and an Ocean Weeping

An anchor tugs a boat along in a stormy sea

On its deck, a canary screams, for to be set free.

The sailor treads on eggshells to man the ship sans aid

And he cries out, alone, where dreams and reality fade.

But lo, tis not a normal bird, caged by human

greed:

It is a wearied phoenix, whose love has been

betrayed.

To last this squall, to remember when a wing might

forget to fly,

In all his shame, the sailor allows a sigh.

For as the storm comes to an end, the wind carries

no goodbye.
