    The following items were discussed and recommendations or actions are made tothe Board as follows:

    SOBOCoordinator

    Andrew Jones gave a report on the followingitems related to the SOBO activities:

    -He is working with Rafael Campos on thetagging of illegal newsracks and the mostblatant violators are being removed;-Parking meter poles are being removedand should be gone from both districts by theend of the year;-Drew is looking into the adopt a medianprogram to see if the CBDs can work with theCity to turn the water back on the medians,particularly at W. Grand and Broadway. Marcowants to come up with a comprehensive planfor median improvement over the next 2 years-Marco is going to work with Aliza to try to get

    the CBDs to provide more than generalservices at places such as Frank OgawaPlaza and Snow parkto ensure that CBDmembers are able to enjoy them during theworking hours

    Review ofbudget

    The Committee reviewed the SOBO budget forthe current year. Numbers for the upcomingyear will be forthcoming at the next meeting

    Update on BbBand Peralta

    -Ted Tarver gave an update on theAmbassador program. He is working closelywith OPD to secure the Nextel phones to allowfor direct communication between theambassadors and OPD.

    -Drew is attempting to get the contract fromAC Transit that outlines the frequency of busstop cleaning throughout both districts. Thebus stops are really a litter and odor problemin the districts.-Rick and Harold gave an update on theirprocesses for cleaning throughout the districts.Peralta is now adhering to the tree wateringagreement that was committed to by the City.-Staff is working on the BART back step issuestrying to provide some landscaping to mitigateongoing loitering problems.-Marco is attempting to deal with Aliza on the

    acquisition of new trash cans for the districts.Review of Board

    AssignmentsThe SOBO Committee must deal withoutstanding issues, as assigned by the Boardwhich include:

    Review of the services provided by Block byBlock and Peralta and make recommendationsfor next years services, including landscapingthroughout both of the districts

    Other -Stacey will get Marco in touch with agentlemen who may be able to provide thelandscaping of the medians and come up witha long term plan for their beautification whichwould include a hanging plant program forBroadway;

    -Staff will be meeting with the new Burger Kingowner soon to go over his steps to improve thecorner;-Drew is going to check on how to get accessto Community Service volunteers that mustprovide work to non-profits in lieu of jail timeor fines due to petty crimes;
